The Dodge County High School Tennis teams have had another successful year. Both teams have competed in one of the toughest tennis regions in the state and advanced to the state playoffs for the second year in a row.
In the first round of state, the boys had a touch match-up against Benedictine and lost. The girls had to travel to Brantley County to play and came out with a 3-2 win and advanced to the “Sweet 16” for the second year in a row. The Lady Indians will be facing off against Thomasville on Tuesday, April 27.
The Lady Indians tennis team has been anchored this year by lone senior and four year starter Callen Carroll. Carrol is undefeated this year and continues to dominate at the number 1 singles position. She was named to the All Middle-Georgia Team last year and has been Most Valuable Player for the Lady Indians Tennis team for the last two years.
Several juniors and sophomores have been reliable at singles and doubles positions. Roxan Stuckey and Jamie Michael Jones have provided leadership and strength in the doubles positions, and Brianna Jessup and Jaye Hilliard have helped keep up competitive with their playing.
Two freshmen have started for the Lady Indians this year, Virginia Hargrove and Hannah Moore. These ladies have done a great job and are rising stars.
Juniors Katelyn Bollhorst, Kelsey Campbell and Kayla Edwards; sophomores Leah Register and Shantoria Burns and freshmen Jessica Quinones, Lauren Watson and Taylor Mobley have provided depth and support for the line-up.
The Lady Indians are coached by Marci Jones and Mimi Dennis.
