Brian Watkins was the top vote recipient in the run-off election for the District 3 Dodge County Commission seat on Tuesday, April 13.
Out of 10 precincts, Watkins received 551 votes and Timmy Burnham received 226 votes.
Watkins will represent District 3 for the unexpired term of the late Edwin Burnham, which will end December 31, 2010.
Watkins attended his first meeting as a commissioner on Monday, April 19.
Qualifying for local county commission and school board seats will begin soon.
Two seats will open for qualifying on the Dodge County Board of Commissioners which will be on the July 20 General Primary ballot.
District 2 commissioner Carl Hosford announced at the February 1, 2010 commission meeting he would not seek re-election. Hosford stated, “It’s time for me to go home.” He served as a commissioner for 5 1/2 years.
District 3 will also come up for election. That seat is currently held by Brian Watkins, who is serving the unexpired term of the late Edwin Burnham.
