The Dodge County High tennis teams played in the sub-region and region tournament last week and both advanced to the AA state tournament.
The girls’ team defeated Dublin 3-0 with wins from Callen Carroll and doubles teams of Roxan Stuckey/Jaye Hilliard and Jamie Michael Jones/Hannah Moore and lost to Bleckley County 1-3 with Dodge’s only win from Callen Carroll to finish second in the sub region.
The girls defeated Swainsboro, 4-2 with wins from Callen Carroll, Brianna Jessup, doubles teams of Jaye Hilliard/Roxan Stuckey and Jamie Michael Jones/Hannah Moore; lost to Screven County, 1-3 with a win again from Callen Carroll; and beat Southeast Bulloch 5-0 to finish in third place in the region and advance to play Brantley County on Wednesday, April 21 in the first round of the AA state tournament.
Winners against Southeast Bulloch were: Callen Carroll, Virginia Hargrove, Brianna Jessup and doubles teams of Jaye Hilliard/Roxan Stuckey and Jamie Michael Jones/Hannah Moore.
The boys’ team lost to Bleckley County and Dublin to finish fourth in the sub region but defeated the number one team from the other side of the region, Swainsboro, in the first round of region to qualify for the state tournament. The boys’ will play Benedictine in the first round of state.
The tennis teams played Toombs County and Vidalia before the tournaments began as the Lady Indians defeated Toombs 5-0 and Vidalia 5-0. The Indians defeated Toombs 4-1 and lost to Vidalia 0-5.
The Lady Indians are now 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the sub region. The boys are 3-7 and 3-3 in the sub region.

Winners against Vidalia were: Callen Carroll 6-0, 6-0; Virginia Hargrove 6-2, 6-3; Brianna Jessup 6-1, 6-1; Jaye Hilliard/Roxan Stuckey 6-1, 6-3; Jamie Michael Jones/Hannah Moore 6-1, 6-0.
On the boys side, winners against Toombs were: John Mark Carter, 6-0, 6-0; Brian Broady, 6-4, 6-4; Shane McCranie and Rusty Selph, 6-2, 6-1; Erik Evans and Will Vaughn, 7-5, 6-5. Steven Zhang lost 3-6, 7-5, 3-7.
