The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Squaws improved to 18 and four on the season and nine and zero in the sub-region with three wins last week. The Dodge girls who are ranked tenth in the latest state poll defeated Pierce County 67 to 35 in a sub-region game; Southeast Bulloch, 60 to 14 in a region cross-over game; and AAAAA Warner Robins, 45 to 33 in a non-region game.
The Indians improved to six and three in the sub-region with a 65 to 60 double overtime win over sub-region foe Pierce County; then lost 48 to 55 to Southeast Bulloch; and lost 47 to 64 to AAAAA Warner Robins High. The Indians are in second place in the sub-region at this point.
Scoring for the Squaws against Pierce County was: Rachel Selph, 21 points; Keyria Gordon, 12 points; Alexis Northcutt, 10 points including a three pointer; Tierra Hamilton, seven points including a three pointer; Tanasha Coley, six points; Shardea Jackson, five points; Kristen Hall, two points; Haley Holloway, two points; and Jurnee Powell, two points
Squaws scoring against Southeast Bulloch was: Coley, 13 points; Gordon, 12 points; Powell, eight points; Holloway, seven points including a three pointer; Northcutt, five points including a three pointer; Robreasha Carr, three points; Hall, three points; Hamilton, three points; Timeasha Collins, two points; and Jackson, two points.
Scoring against Warner Robins was: Hall, 15 points; Coley, seven points; Selph, seven points; Gordon, six points; Northcutt, a three pointer; Holloway, a three pointer; Collins, two points; and Powell, two points.
Indians scoring in the win over Pierce County was: Alex Jordan, 23 points including three three pointers; Nick Cummings 16 points including a three pointer; AJ Lampkin, nine points including two three pointers; DeMarcus McClinton, seven points; Davion Phillips, six points including two three pointers; and Roscoe Wilcox, four points.
Scoring against Southeast Bulloch was: Jordan, 15 points including three three-pointers; Lampkin, 13 points; McClinton, eight points; CJ Kemp, five points; Maleek Graham, four points; and Davion Phillips, a three pointer.
Scoring for the Indians against Warner Robins was: Jordan, 18 points including four three pointers; Lampkin, 13 points including two three pointers; McClinton, six points; Wilcox, six points; Kemp, two points; and Brice Blocker, two points.
The Squaws and Indians will host Islands High School in a region cross-over game on Friday, February 6 in their last regular season game of the season and it will also be senior night for Dodge.
The Region 1-AAA tournament will be held February 9 through February 14. Dodge County will host the semi-finals and finals on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14. There will be four games on both nights beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The Squaws will receive a first round bye and will play a second round game here in Eastman on Thursday, February 12, time to be announced. The Indians are in second place on side A of the region 1-AAA and will most likely host a first round game in Eastman on Wednesday with a possible second round game on the road. The final brackets will not be set until after the region meeting on February 8.
