Dear editor,
To all citizens of Dodge and surrounding counties,
The purpose of my writing is to offer my support of Breast Cancer Awareness every month, but especially as we promote that awareness during the month of October.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to Rose Clark and Faith in Action Church, of which Ms. Clark has been a long-time member. Through the actions and efforts of Ms. Clark and the church, awareness has been raised as to the importance of screening, which leads to the early detection of breast cancer.
Approximately one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives. The good news is that breast cancer can be treated if detected early. Many people may not be aware of this, but breast cancer also occurs in men. More than 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. So let’s help spread the word, encouraging both men and women to be screened regularly.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Pruett, State Representative, District 149
