Recently, two Jr. Grappling Indians traveled to Kingsport, Tennessee to participate in the 2010 Amateur Athletic Union Spring Youth Nationals. This tournament is one of the more challenging national level tournaments that typically draws wrestlers from across the nation. It’s also the first opportunity of the year for wrestlers to earn the coveted AAU All-American title for placing in the top three in each weight class.
Representing Dodge County were Anthony Mannella, 5U, 50 pounds, and Vincent Mannella, 9U, 55 pounds. Anthony Mannella wrestled his best tournament ever winning first place honors and becoming our clubs second AAU All-American in as many years.
Reigning state champ Vincent Mannella battled through a very competitive weight bracket to settle for a fourth place finish in arguably the toughest weight class of the tournament. Pictured above is Anthony Mannella (center) on the medal stand wearing his gold medal and displaying his first All-American certificate.
