Deputies make drug arrests

Deputies took Thomas into custody and found a bag of suspected marijuana in Thomas’ pocket. A passenger in Thomas’ vehicle, Roderick Lamont Morgan (age 26) of Eastman, was found to be in possession of multiple bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale. Morgan was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Thomas was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and possession of marijuana.

On Monday, April 5, deputies made a traffic stop outside of Chauncey and found suspected marijuana on the driver, Brian Dewayne Anderson (age 26) of Eastman. Anderson was arrested by deputies and charged with possession of marijuana.

On Friday, April 2, deputies responded to a possible wreck on the English Crossing Road south of Chauncey. Deputies arrived to find the driver of the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Deputies took the driver, Pamela Joy Fountain (age 22) of Eastman, into custody for DUI. Deputies found a large quantity of various kinds of pills on Fountain and in Fountain’s vehicle. The pills included Schedule II, Schedule III, and Schedule IV narcotics. In addition to DUI, Fountain was charged with illegal possession of controlled substances and possessing prescriptions not in the original container.

Sheriff’s Investigators continue to solve scrap metal thefts throughout the Dodge County. Sheriff’s investigator arrested Calvin Jerome Redman (age 25) of Chester, on Monday, April 5, for the theft of scrap metal and farm equipment at various locations around Chester. Redman has been charged with felony theft by taking. Also, on the same date, investigators arrested Terry Lamar Woodard (age 51) of Eastman, and charged Woodard with felony theft by taking. Woodard allegedly stole a bunch scrap metal and pipes from a location off Lower River Road.

Investigators arrested Sonya Sawyer Jackson (age 39) of Eastman, on Monday, April 5. Investigators have charged Jackson with three (3) counts of forgery, one (1) count of felony theft by taking, and (1) count of misdemeanor theft by taking. Jackson allegedly stole property and checks belonging to another person. The checks were cashed at various locations in the county.
Investigators continue to work the multi agency/jurisdiction ATV theft ring case, which was previously reported on the Jaybird-Helena Dirt Road.

Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators have charged Jerry A. Brown (age 30) of Chauncey, with three (3) additional counts of theft by receiving stolen property and being in possession of an item with an altered serial number. The investigation is ongoing by multiple sheriff’s offices and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
