The Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Warriors opened their baseball season on February 23, 2010 against the West Laurens Raiders. West Laurens has won their region the last two years.
The Warriors scored five times in the first inning. The inning was highlighted by a run batted in (RBI) double by Cain Peterson and a two out two run double by Andrew Hardy. West Laurens scored three runs in the second inning on one hit and two Warrior errors. In the third inning the Warriors scored a run on an RBI ground out by Cain Peterson. The top of the fifth saw the Warriors pad their lead by scoring two times. The inning was highlighted by a triple by Austin Clements and an RBI ground out by Jonathan Perdue. The sixth inning would see the Warriors score two times to put the game away, making the final score DCMS 10, West Laurens 3.
The winning pitcher was Derek Rogers.
Leading batters were: Derek Rogers was 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored (RS); Cain Peterson was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, 2 doubles and 1 RS; Austin Clements was 2-for-4 with 1 RS and 1 triple; Jonathan Perdue was 2-for-4 with 2 RS and 1 RBI; Andrew Hardy was 2-for-3 with 1 RS, 3 RBI and 1 double; and Josh Edwards was 1-for-2.
Warriors finish season, 15-2
On February 24 DCMS Warriors took on Dublin in their second game of the season. The Warriors scored a run in the first inning and Dublin answered back in the bottom of the first inning with two runs. The Warriors scored six runs in the second inning with two outs. Dublin scored five in the bottom of the second inning to tie it at 7-7 after two innings. Dublin scored single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to take a 9-7 lead. The Warriors would get the bats rolling again scoring five times in the top of the sixth and added four more runs in the seventh to make the final score DCMS 16, Dublin 9. The winning pitcher was Witt Campbell 1-0. Leading batters were: Cain Peterson was 3-for-3 with two RS; Gerard Davis was 3-for-5 with 1 RS and 1 double; Austin Clements was 2-for-3 with 3 RS; Lance Pruitt was 2-for-3 with 2 RS; Josh Perdue was 2-for-2; Dalton Rogers was 2-for-3; Lane Crummey was 1-for-3 with 1 RS; Thomas Adcock was 1-for-2 with 1 RS; Andrew Hardy was 1-for-1 with 1 RS and 2 doubles; and Ryan Harvey was 1-for-1 with 1 RS.
On February 25 DCMS Warriors played their first home game of the season against East Laurens. The Warriors sent 17 men to the plate in the first inning and scored 11 runs. The inning was highlighted by a triple from Austin Clements and a double by Lane Crummey. A two run double by Derek Rogers in the second inning brought the score 13-0. One more run in the bottom of the third would close out the scoring making the final score DCMS 14, East Laurens 0. The winning pitcher was Josh Perdue. Leading batters were: Austin Clements was 1-for-1 with 1 triple and 2 RS; Lane Crummey was 1-for-1 with 2 RS and 1 double; Derek Rogers was 1-for-1 with 2 RS, 2 RBI and 1 double; Gerard Davis was 1-for-2 with 1 RS; Daython Sheffield was 1-for-1 with 2 RS; Josh Edwards was 1-for-2; Ryan Harvey was 1-for-1; and Lance Pruitt was 1-for-1 with 1 double.
On March 1 the DCMS Warriors got great pitching from Derek Rogers and equally good defense on their way to their first region win of the season over Vidalia with a score of 10-1. The winning pitcher was Derek Rogers, 2-0. Leading batters were: Josh Perdue was 3-for-3 with 2 RS; Jonathan Perdue was 2-for-3 with 1 RS; Andrew Hardy was 1-for-1 with 3 RS; Cain Peterson was 1-for-2 with 1 RS; and Lane Crummey was 1-for-4 with 2 RS.
On March 4 DCMS Warriors scored multiple runs in the first four innings on their way to a 14-1 victory over Swainsboro. Jonathan Perdue was the winning pitcher. Leading batters were: Lane Crummey was 3-for-4 with 2 RS; Cain Peterson was 3-for-4 with 2 RS; Jonathan Perdue was 2-for-2 with 1 RS; Morgan Sheffield was 2-for-2 with 2 RS; Derrick Rogers was 1-for-2 with 2 RS; Austin Clements was 2-for-3 with 3 RS; and Josh Perdue was 1-for-3.
On March 8 DCMS Warriors scored 19 runs in the second inning. The inning was highlighted by a grand slam homerun by Jonathan Perdue and a three run homer by Derek Rogers. The final score was DCMS 19, East Laurens 2. The winning pitcher was Jonathan Perdue. Leading batters were: Andrew Hardy was 2-for-2 with 3 RS; Josh Perdue was 2-for-3 with 2 RS; Jonathan Perdue was 2-for-3 with 1 RS and a grand slam; Lane Crummey was 1-for-3 with 1 RS; Morgan Sheffield was 1-for-1 with 1 RS; Cain Peterson was 2-for-3 with 2 RS; Derek Rogers was 1-for-2 with 2 RS and a 3 run homerun; and Austin Clements was 1-for-3 with 2 RS.
On March 9 DCMS Warriors seventh grade team scored runs in every inning on their way to an 18-1 victory over Bleckley County. The winning pitcher was Dalton Rogers. Leading batters were: Thomas Addcock was 3-for-3 with 4 RS; Dalton Rogers was 2-for-3 with 1 RS; Witt Campbell was 1-for-3 with 3 RS; Lance Pruett was 1-for-4 with 1 RS; Gerard Davis was 3-for-4 with 4 RS; Hunter Graham was 2-for-4; Austin Hussey was 1-for-3 with 2 RS; and Tad Honeycutt was 1-for-4.
On March 13 DCMS Warriors lost their first game of the season to Bleckley County by a score of 11-1. The losing pitcher was Derek Rogers. Leading batters were: Jonathan Perdue was 1-for-1 with 1 RS; Josh Perdue was 1-for-2; and Lane Crummey was 1-for-3.
On March 15 DCMS Warriors bounced back from their only loss of the season to defeat Toombs County by a score of 9-4. The winning pitcher was Jonathan Perdue. Leading batters were: Josh Perdue was 3-for-4; Jonathan Perdue was 2-for-4 with 2 RS; Austin Clements was 2-for-4 with 1 RS; Hunter Graham was 1-for-3 with 2 RS; Cain Peterson was 1-for-3; Andrew Hardy was 1-for-4 with 1 RS; Lane Crummey was 1-for-4 with 1 RS; Derek Rogers was 1-for-4 with 1 RS; and Morgan Sheffield was 1-for-4 with 1 RS.
On March 18, the DCMS Warriors leading 3-0 in the bottom of the third, batted around, scoring six runs to go on and defeat Dublin, 11-0 in four innings. Derek Rogers pitched a two hit shot out for the win. The Warriors are 9-1 on the year. Leading batters were: Hunter Graham was 2-2 with 2RS and 2RBI and 1 double; Josh Perdue was 2-3 with 2RS, 2 RBI and 1 triple; Austin Clements was 2-3 with 2RS, 1RBI and 1 triple; Jonathan Perdue was 1-2, 1RS and 1 double; Lane Crummey was 1-2 with 2RS; and Cain Peterson was 1-1 with 1RBI.
On March 19 the DCMS Warriors came from behind to defeat West Laurens 12-9 on Friday. The Warriors batted around in the fourth, scoring six runs to take the lead for good. Tad Honeycutt was the winning pitcher. The seventh grade team is 4-0 on the season. Leading batters were: Gerard Davis was 3-3, 3RS and 1 triple; Witt Campbell was 1-1 with 2RS; Thomas Addcock was 1-2 with 3RS; Dalton Rogers was 1-3, 2RS and 1 double; Austin Hussey was 1-1 with 1RS; Ben Lee was 1-3; Ryan Harvey was 1-4 with 1RS; Lance Pruett was 1-4 with 1 double.
On March 22 the DCMS Warriors Baseball team defeated West Laurens 8-2 in the their final regular season game. The Warriors got three hits, pitching from Derek Rogers and Jonathan Perdue over seven innings. Derek Rogers also had a good day at the plate going 2-4 with a three run homer. Hitting in the game, Derek Rogers was 2-4, 2RS and a three run homer, Lane Crummey was 1-3 with 2RS, Morgan Sheffield was 1-3 with 1RBI and 1 double, Austin Clements was 1-4 with 1RS, Cain Peterson was 1-2. The Warriors finished the regular season at 10-1 which currently puts them in a tie for first with Bleckley County. Bleckley County has one region game remaining, if they win that game they will host the tournament, if they lose the tournament will be hosted by Dodge. The first round of the tournament begins Thursday at home with the Warriors playing either Swainsboro or East Laurens. The seventh grade Warriors won all four of their games this season. A 14-1 over all record is a very good season by most standards. The long goal remaining is to pickup three more wins. Three more wins will give the Warriors a much deserved region championship.
On March 25 the DCMS Warriors defeated Swainsboro 6-4 in the first round of the region playoffs, winning pitcher was Jonathan Perdue. Leading batters were: Derek Rogers was 1-1 with 1RS and 1RBI; Lane Crummey was 1-4 with 1 RBI; Cain Peterson was 1-2 with 2RS; Hunter Graham was 1-3; Jonathan Perdue was 1-3 with 2RS and Andrew Hardy was 1-2.
On Saturday, March 27, the DCMS Warriors were defeated by Vidalia 10-0 in the semi finals of the region tournament. The Warriors finished the season winning 15 games, losing two.

The eighth grade players were Austin Clements, Lane Crummey, Josh Edwards, Andrew Hardy, Jonathon Perdue, Josh Perdue, Derek Rogers, Daython Sheffield and Morgan Sheffield. The coaches were Terry Evans and Corey Hobbs.
