This past weekend was a great weekend of wrestling for Dodge County. Our largest group of wrestlers headed to West Laurens for the Michael Gay Memorial.
Two first year wrestlers, Noah Haight and Cole Cranford, were impressive with their continued improvement. Haight battled in two brackets bringing home a first and third place medal. Cranford fell short of medaling but battled some very tough and experienced opponents winning his shared of matches on the day. Others that placed in this tough tournament were Kaden White, fourth; Jake Rogers, third; Josh Rogers, second and third; Jason Lann, fourth; Joah Gay, second; Jared Cannon, second; and Noah Atkinson, second.
Going up north to Marietta to battle in the Walton Raider Classic, one of Teams Georgia’s “Mega” tournaments of the year was Christian Grauberger. He battled some of the best wrestlers in Georgia and surrounding states, coming home with two-second place medals.
Finally, two of our Grapplers headed out of state to North Carolina for the Rhino Extreme wrestling tournament. This is annually one of the toughest in the South Eastern United States, bringing in wrestlers from all over the nation. McCay Turner battled in one of the largest brackets of the tournament falling short of placing but representing Dodge well. Porter Faulk also wrestled in the Rhino Extreme pulling out an extremely hard fought second place finish. Turner and Faulk then represented Dodge on the Mid State duals team at the Rhino Extreme Duals on Sunday. Mid State finished the day in second place in the duals tournament, another awesome accomplishment!!
