Recently there was a letter published concerning whether or not to recognize Veteran’s Day at the courthouse by the board of commissioners.
I question, why would this holiday not be recognized?
Our veterans are very important to this country and like other things we tend to take their service for granted.
My husband’s reaction, who is also a veteran, when he first read the letter, “If I lived in Eastman I’d vote everyone off the board of commissioners!” Veterans, why didn’t you respond with letters to let people know you yourself care about this holiday?
I have since learned that this holiday has been given back, but they have chosen to take Columbus Day from them. Hmm, oh well, the board of commissioners has to save money somewhere.
