Runoff set for commission District 3 post

A runoff election has been set between Timmy Burnham and Brian Watkins after none of the four candidates running for the Dodge County Commission District 3 post garnered more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the Tuesday, March 16 special election.

Burnham and Watkins were the two top vote getters in the election to fill the unexpired term of the late Edwin Burnham.
The runoff election will be Tuesday, April 13.

In the election, Watkins received 451 votes and Burnham received 303. Rodney King and James Atkins received 112 and 85 votes respectively.
District 3 has 2,943 registered voters. Only 951 or 32.2% voted in the special election. There were 838 voters that cast their ballots on the machines and 113 absentee/early voters.

According to election superintendent John Kelly, the absentee ballots have been ordered. If you would like to request an absentee ballot or vote early, contact the registrar’s office located in the Dodge County Courthouse for more information.

Only those voters in County Commissioner District 3 who voted on March 16 are eligible to vote in the runoff election.
