The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Grappling Indians and Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Grappling Warriors have begun the seventh season of Dodge County Wrestling. The Warriors recently battled on the mat against West Laurens and Toombs County recording impressive victories. Standouts included Christian Grauberger, Jared Cannon and newcomer grappler Boo Davis.
The high school grapplers faired equally as well at their opening tournament in Cordele. Competing against 10 teams in the Cougar Duals, the Indians had a chance to knock off the rust from the off-season and get tough on the mat. Returning to the mat after a long injury layoff, Junior Jacob Danforth battled some tough competition and wrestled superbly throughout the tournament. Freshman newcomer Justin Warnock displayed his wrestling skills in grand style. Transferring from South Carolina this year Warnock was our only wrestler to win all five of his matches. Also making his freshman debut was Clayton Scarborough who turned in some great performances against much heavier wrestlers.
Wrestling at heavyweight, Cam’Ron McCloud won both his matches and picked up right where he left off last season. Overall, the Grappling Warriors and Indians have started off the season with some impressive skills, toughness and impeccable sportsmanship.
