U.S. Congressman Austin Scott (GA-08) announced on Tuesday he has signed onto the Government Shutdown Fairness Act (H.R. 3160), which would prohibit members of Congress from receiving a salary during a government shutdown.
“It’s our duty as leaders in Washington to keep the government running,” said Rep. Scott. “The House has acted multiple times to keep the government open. Unfortunately, the Senate and the President’s refusal to negotiate has brought us to a government shutdown that is adversely impacting programs for veterans, seniors and many others. Until the Senate comes to the table and works with House Republicans to find a solution to end this shutdown, I don’t believe members should get paid.”
The Government Shutdown Fairness Act (H.R. 3160) was introduced by Rep. Chris Collins (NY-27) and is consistent with the 27th Amendment in holding salaries in escrow until the end of this Congress.
Earlier this year, Rep. Scott voted for the No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013 (H.R. 325), which said Members of Congress would not be paid unless they passed a budget. Following the passage of No Budget, No Pay, the Senate adopted a budget resolution for the first time in four years.
Holding pay in escrow isn't nearly the same as being furloughed and never seeing that money again. Scott is just like the rest of the crooked suits in Washington.
TIRED OF POLITICIANS

I do not care for Austin Scott at all. He was asked by several people in Dodge County to assist in a serious local issue and never responded. He was contacted by phone and email and was very flippant. I have spoken with others in this area and said they received the same treatment. He will never get my vote again!
I concur 100%. I personally contacted Mr. Scott via letter and phone and requested assistance to help save our Boys & Girls Club. I provided him clear evidence outlining more than a year of mismanagement, ethical violations, and misappropriation of non-profit funds by the past CPO. I also contacted our local Representative. The end result...our club closed and our county lost significant funding vital to the growth and well-being of our children.
holding their pay they shouldn't get it; they alredy get paid more than any other Federal Worker who has not even seen even a cost of living raise in 3 years but taxes and health insurance went up all 3 years. Now to top it all off they have a lot of the workforce fuloughed and I'm working at the VA but unsure if I will get paid. Something is defintly wrong with the big picture.
Everywhere Scott goes Pruett follows. In my opinion they are two peas in a pod. They are self-seeking, self-motivating and have done nothing positive for the people of this state. We need to rid our state and county of people who are only interested in personal gain and will do whatever it takes to stay in power. This includes speaking at churches to gain political votes when your heart is far from what the church represents. I pray that someone will run against Pruett and Scott that has the people of this Nation and this State's welfare at heart rather than their own personal gain!
