The Dodge County High School (DCHS) Lady Indians continued to dominate on the diamond last week as they hosted Swainsboro, Washington County and long-time rival Bleckley County.
On Tuesday, September 10 the Lady Indians faced Swainsboro and won 11 to one. Katie Selph was the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts, two walks and allowed only one hit.
Lila Coleman was three for three with one run batted in (RBI); Margaret Simmons was two for two with a three-run homerun and five RBIs; Nikki Graham was one for two with one RBI; Maddie Mullis and Selph were each one for two with two RBIs.
The Lady Indians faced Washington County on Thursday, September 12 and came away with another win of eight to zero. Haley Holloway got the win on the mound with six strikeouts, one walk and allowed only one hit. Graham was two for two with two RBIs; Caitlyn Smith was two for three; Holloway was one for two with two RBIs; Faith Manning was one for three with one RBI; and Lizzie Massingill was one for two with one RBI.
Dodge hosted the Bleckley County Royals on Saturday, September 14. The Royals jumped ahead in the first two innings but that did not keep the Lady Indians down. The Lady
Indians came back and took the win with a 14 to five final score.
Selph was the starting pitcher for DCHS and pitched two and one-thirds innings. She had four strikeouts and allowed five hits. Massingill came in and finished the game with seven strikouts and no hits. Annie Moore was two for three with four RBIs; Simmons was two for two with a two-run homerun and three RBIs; Claire Greer was one for two with one RBI; Selph was one for one; Massingill and Graham each had one RBI; and Coleman hit her first homerun with a three-run walk-off homerun. She was one for three with four RBIs.
The Lady Indians will host Toombs County and Jefferson County this week at the reservation.
