In 1939, WWII began when the German Army invaded Poland. After that year, life would never be the same for anyone, anywhere on the planet. Two significant results, besides the suppression of totalitarianism, came out of American involvement in that conflict.
WWII was the last time that U.S. Forces waged all out war with Congressional approval as required by the Constitution. The closest we have come since then to constitutional compliance was when President Bush asked Congress for approval to invade Iraq. That approval was for only sixty days as required by the War Powers Act but the issue was not revisited. The war continued for years.
The other significant item of interest from WWII was the new relationship that the U.S. Government developed with organized crime. That relationship continues to this day. The first deal the government cut with organized crime involved New York dock workers.
Charles “Lucky” Luciano was the mob guy who negotiated with the Navy Department to end problems handling inbound and outbound cargo at the port of New York. Today, war and illegal drugs are big business. Both are highly profitable for some.
War is the responsibility of elected government officials. The illegal drug business is handled by criminals in cooperation with elected officials. Those who wage war and deal in illegal drugs get scant attention from the news media. War has become a political tool of the Washingtonians. George Bush was hailed as a war mongering, racist, elitist waging war for Wall Street investors and international businessmen.
Barack Obama is contemplating his own war in Syria while Americans are still dying in Afghanistan. Afghanistan has more to do with the illegal drug trade than with any humanitarianism but President Obama enjoys quiet approval for American involvement anyway.
Our elected representatives in the Congress, the Washingtonians, could end all this madness. They choose not to end it which makes them complicit in illegal war and the illegal drug business. The key to it all is the funding which the Washingtonians willingly provide even to the point of running up government debt to pay for it. This is politics on a grand scale.
This, unless it is stopped, will be the ruin of the American Republic, the last hope for freedom in the world. Generally, the ordinary folks have little influence on the scheming of the Washington crowd as they continue to turn a deaf ear to our demands for a return to Constitutional America because we continue to vote the same politicians back into office for many, many years. When we continue to do this with each election cycle, we suffer, they thrive!
This type of election process allows them to continue to divide the electorate along racial lines, play classes of citizens against each other and move further away from the rule of law. It cannot be allowed to last. Political extremism from the left or the right benefits only those in charge of it all. Those in charge are politicians at all levels of government.
Each of us must do our part to end the tyranny of rule by a few. This is why I am a firm believer in limiting their power, by the use of a Constitutional Amendment to limit terms of our elected officials. We can no longer be casual observers and resign ourselves to the idea that nothing can be done. So long as we do, they win. Stand up America!
