The Dodge County Wrestling Club recently hosted its third annual summer wrestling camp at its new wrestling gym.
A tradition starting in 2007 with 35 young boys and girls at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department has grown to over 60 kids participating in morning and afternoon sessions.
This year was the first time we’ve had experienced wrestlers from surrounding counties attend with two reigning 2009 State Kids Champions from Raider Storm Wrestling Club in West Laurens and a 2009 GIS State Champion. Additionally, several kids visiting family for the summer participated.
Wrestling is quickly becoming a popular sport in Dodge County and with the upcoming middle school program the Grappling Indians are building a dynasty one wrestler at a time.
Wrestling is a tough sport and not for the weak or faint hearted, yet for those who persevere, the rewards are great. Wrestling builds self-confidence, improves physical fitness levels, and teaches good sportsmanship.
