The Dodge County High Indian baseball team opened their 2010 season by splitting games with Hawkinsville and Worth County last week. The Indians hosted Hawkinsville on Wednesday, February 24 and defeated them 10-0 in five innings. Dodge traveled to Worth County on Thursday, February 25 and lost 8-4 to the Rams.
In Wednesdays’ season opener, the Indians were led on the mound by Clint Taylor who faced 18 batters in four innings striking out 10, walked three and allowed three hits. Stepping up at the plate for the Indians were: Cole Evans was 2-for-3 including a double, an RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases; Christian Miller was 2-for-2 including a double, two RBI; one run scored and two stolen bases; Herschel Anderson was 1-for-1, including a double and one run scored; OJ Hogan was 1-for2 including a double; two runs scored and a stolen base; Brandon Beck had two RBI on two sacrifice flies; Brady Blalock, Trent Mitchell and Blake Moore each scored a run.
The Indians traveled to Sylvester on Thursday to take on the Worth County Rams and came up short as they lost 8-4. Three pitchers saw time on the mound as OJ Hogan started and went two and one third innings facing 10 batters and striking out three. Hogan allowed three hits, one walk, and three runs. Christian Miller pitched two and two thirds innings and faced 12 batters. Miller had three strikeouts and allowed three walks, one hit and one run to score. Brandon Beck closed the game for the Indians with one inning on the mound had one strikeout and walked three allowing four runs to score off of two hits.
Leading batters for Dodge were: JoJo Harrison was 2-for-2 with two RBI; Blake Moore was 2-for-3 with one RBI; Clint Taylor was 1-for-1 with a double; Herschel Anderson scored one run; OJ Hogan was 1-for-3 and scored a run; Christian Miller was 1-for-3 with an RBI homerun; Brady Blalock was 1-for-4.
The Indians were scheduled to travel to Hawkinsville on Monday, March 1 and to Wilcox County on Tuesday, March 2 before returning home Tuesday, March 9 to host Worth County at 6:00 p.m. Junior Varsity games are scheduled at 4:00 p.m. before each of these games. The junior varsity will also be participating in a tournament at Dublin on March 4-6.
