Leading the striking force is Adele Harrison, Lacie Kemp, and Kendal Adcock, they had several drives and attempts at the goal but Irwin’s keeper kept them from scoring.
In the middle we had Krystal Hutchinson, Rachel King, Morgan Pruett, Jasmine Warrell, Omni Alejos, Korrissa Bruemmer, Ana Mitchell and Trina Gaulke covering a lot of the pitch as they connected with the ball delivering it to the forwards.
As defenders we had Lena Atkinson, Maranda Branch, Laquesha Brinson, Sueanne Hughes, Christian Smith, Shelby Rowland, and Courtney Snelgrove who all hustled trying to block, stop, and protect the goal. Danielle Rogers plays the keeper position where she dives, grabs, and vocally leads the team.
The Indian soccer team also played Irwin the same night and fought for a win with the score 2-1.
The boys have a strong team as they have come together and relied upon one another’s strengths. They played as a team sharing the ball down the field.
The goals were both scored by Stephen Howell and assisted by Jordan Cook, Walt Turner, Michael Phillips, and Jake Ruffin.
With a strong mid-field consisting of Damion Fowler, Michael Wrease, Taylor Howell, Rusty Pruett, Quin Rolland the ball was continually fed back to the forward.
Our defenders were the surprise of the night, Seth Palmer, Justin Hardin, Kerry Gordon, Mark McDermitt, and Kaedon Rye were not letting anything get past them. Our keeper, Taylor Screws is an amazing player who always lays it out on the field.
Thursday, February 25 was a disappointing night as we took to the road and traveled to Bleckley for a disappointing loss for both the girls and the boys.
Despite the many challenges of missing skillful players and Bleckley’s tactical approach, our team never gave up and continually faced the adversity as best they possible could.
The soccer teams’ next games will be at Irwin County on Tuesday, March 2, and then March 11 at Central Macon.
They will host another home game March 15 with start time at 5:30 and 7:30. Please come support the high school soccer teams.
