Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators have solved a three (3) county burglary ring and have taken three (3) people into custody.
Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary alarm on February 8 at the Kuntry Mart in Gresston. Deputies discovered that the store had been broken into. Over $3,800 worth of merchandise and cash was missing from the business. Dodge Sheriff’s investigators were able to obtain video surveillance from the store, which resulted in the identification of three (3) individuals: Demetrius Delfonic Sims (age 39) of Athens, Leonard Earl Mitchell Sr. (age 41) of Dublin, and Comminy Crawford (age 30) of Cochran.
Dodge Sheriff’s investigators began working with three (3) other law enforcement agencies on the case, which led to solving four (4) other burglaries. Investigators, in conjunction with the Eastman Police Department, were able to tie the suspects to a burglary that occurred at Shorty’s Used Cars in Eastman. Dodge County investigators and Laurens County Sheriff’s investigators were able to connect the suspects to burglaries that occurred at the County Line Liquor Store near Cadwell and the Dollar General Store in Rentz. In addition, Dodge County investigators and Bleckley County Sheriff’s investigators were able to connect the suspects to a burglary that occurred at the Sand Hill Grocery Store between Cochran and Empire.
Sims, Mitchell, and Crawford are charged with one (1) count of burglary by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the burglary in Gresston. The suspects are facing charges by the Eastman Police Department and the sheriff’s offices of both Bleckley and Laurens County.
In a separate case, Dodge deputies responded to a home burglary on the Lower River Road earlier in the month. Sheriff’s investigators made an arrest in connection with the case and solved additional thefts which occurred at a residence in the city of Eastman. Investigators, on Wednesday, February 10, charged Samuel T. Healy (age 32) of Eastman, with one (1) count of burglary and two (2) counts of the theft by taking as result of the investigation.
