Authorities are investigating the vandalism of Harrell Cemetery in the Midway community over this past weekend.
The cemetery is located off Lower River Road at the Dodge/Pulaski County line.
According to authorities, approximately 50 to 60 graves were damaged or destroyed. Many headstones had been toppled over and some slabs had been broken into pieces, as well as cemetery flower pots broken and figurines stolen or busted.
The damage to the cemetery is estimated in the thousands of dollars.
Authorities suspect that teenagers may have caused the damage and that more than one person was involved due to how heavy some of the headstones are that were toppled.
Some of the graves that were vandalized were those of children and infants while some others that will need repair are of people who have no living relatives.
A $500.00 reward is being offered by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department for information that leads to the arrest of the vandal or vandals. Anyone with information can call the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department at 478-783-1521 or the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department at 478-374-8131.
