The Dodge County High Indians basketball team entered the quarterfinals of the Region 3AA tournament at Brewton- Parker College on Thursday, February 18 after winning eight of their last 10 regular season games and finishing third behind Dublin and Vidalia in the sub region.
The Indians were one win from making it back to the state playoffs but had to face the third ranked Laney Wildcats (26-2). Laney had only lost twice this season but wound up as the number two seed from side A of the region. Those two loses came to Swainsboro a team the Indians had beaten previously this season.
The Indians hung tough with the Wildcats in the first quarter but lost the game 61-42. The loss ended the Indians season under second year coach Tim Passmore.
Coach Passmore and his Indians finished the season 13-12 and were 6-4 in the sub region. The Indians doubled their win total from last season to gain a winning record this season.
The Indians look forward to next season as they have many players returning. Dodge loses three seniors: Herschel Anderson, Jordan Jones and Martavious Walker.
Final scoring for the Indians against Laney was: Leonard Floyd, 14 points; Tamius Lemon, nine points; Greg Butler, six points; Jordan Jones, three points; Justice Burch, three points; Martavious Walker, two points; Herschel Anderson, one point; Curtis Rushing, one point.
