The Middle Georgia Hurricanes 12u fast pitch softball team traveled to Warner Robins Saturday February 20 to play in the Middle Georgia Mayhem Fund Raiser USSSA Qualifier Tournament.
The tournament was a round Robin with the top two teams playing for the championship. The Hurricanes began play against the Mayhem and came up a run short, five to six in an extra inning shoot out.
The girls took their frustrations out on their next opponents, The Middle Georgia Motion by routing them 16 to 1. After a short break the girls took on the GFA Hurricanes and defeated them by a score of 8 to 7.
The last of the round robin games was against the Southern Breeze from Toombs County. The Hurricanes defeated them by a score of 12 to 3. This set up a rematch against the Mayhem for the championship.
The Hurricanes came out on fire and easily defeated the Mayhem by a score of 7 to 4 for their first Championship Win of the Spring Season. The Hurricanes will be in Dublin this weekend for their second tournament of the season.
Members of the 2010 Middle Georgia Hurricanes are Briana Perdue (Eastman), Morgan Page (Soperton), Kiley Dix (Eastman), Elizabeth Mathis (Cochran), Faith Manning (Eastman), Kaylee Peterson (Eastman), Taniya Moye (Soperton), Amanda Peters (Byron), Nakita Wicker (Soperton), Chelsey Hickman (Eastman), and Chelsea Brady (Eastman).
Coaches for the team are Brian Perdue, Chuck Page and Phil Moye.
