On Saturday, February 6, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors took on Bleckley County for the Middle Georgia Middle School Association Championship. The first quarter was low scoring as the Lady Warriors lead eight to seven, Davina Clark has three points. The game remained close, the second quarter, but Bleckley took a 19 to 17 lead into halftime. The
The third quarter saw the Lady Warriors really struggle. Bleckley outscored the Lady Warriors 11 to seven to take a 30 to 24 lead going into the fourth quarter. With 3.25 left in the game, the Lady Warriors trailed by eight and in big trouble. T.Y. Northcutt scored four straight points plus a stingy defense that finally showed up in the fourth period, cut into the lead. A big lift came from Markesha McLoud, as she scored 11 straight points in the final minutes to rescue the Lady Warriors, and send them to a 42 to 33 victory and the Region Championship. Congratulations players and coaches on a school record 18 wins and a Region Championship. Scoring in the game were Markesha McLoud 15 points, Asia Jones eight points, Davina Clark six points, T.Y. Northcutt six points, Jovanna Collins four points and Katie Selph three points.
The Dodge County Middle School Warriors faced East Laurens in the semifinals. The Lady Warriors took an 11 to seven lead after the first quarter. Asia Jones lead the way with four points. The Lady Warriors lead 17 to nine at halftime. The Lady Warriors won the third quarter by a score of 15 to nine. Rachel Selph lead the way with six points. The fourth quarter would see the Lady Warriors get outscored six to five. The final score was Dodge County Middle School Warriors 37 to East Laurens 24. Scoring in the game were Asia Jones 15 points, Rachel Selph five points, Markesha McLoud six points, T.Y. Northcutt three points, Davina Clark three points, Katie Selph two points. The win puts the Lady Warriors in the championship against Bleckley County.
On February 3, the Dodge County Middle School opened Region Tournament play against Swainsboro. The Lady Warriors had a great first quarter behind seven points from Asia Jones and Jovanna Collins, the Lady Warriors lead 16 to one after the first quarter. The fast start set the tempo for the rest of the game. The Lady Warriors went on to win the game 42 to 19. This puts the Lady Warriors in the Semi Finals on Friday night again East Laurens.
Scoring in the game were Asia Jones 11 points, Jovanna Collins nine points, Katie Selph nine points, Davina Clark five points, Markesha McLoud four points, Annie Moore two points and Shequore Jordan two points.
SEASON GAMES
The Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors opened their basketball season at home on November 21 against Vidalia. Lead by Davina Clark’s four points in the first quarter. The Lady Warriors were up 9 to 3 after one quarter. The second quarter saw the Lady Warriors increase their lead behind Markesha McLoud’s five points, the Lady Warriors went up 20 to 6 at half time. The third quarter saw very little scoring as both teams managed only a basket making the score Dodge 22, Vidalia eight after three. Markesha McLoud led the Lady Warriors with four points in the fourth quarter. Vidalia managed only one point making the final score Dodge 28, Vidalia nine.
Scoring during the game were; Markesha McLoud 11 points, Davina Clark four points, Katie Selph two points, Jovanna Collins six points, Asia Jones three points and T.Y. Northcutt two points.
On November 30, the D.C.M.S. Lady Warriors traveled to Swainsboro. Jovanna Collins and Asia Jones scored four points a piece to stake the Lady Warriors to an eight to two lead after one quarter. Markesha McLoud scored three points in the second quarter to push the lead to 13 to 4 at halftime. An eleven to 0 third quarter run lead by Asia Jones six points making the score 24 to six after three. The fourth quarter saw the bench empty and every body got to play. The final score was D.C.M.S. 28, Swainsboro 11.
Scoring during the game were; Asia Jones 12 points, Markesha McLoud three points, Annie Moore one point, Katie Selph four points, Davina Clark three points, Jovanna Collins four points and Melsha Cross two points.
On December 3, the Lady Warriors took on East Laurens. The Lady Warriors behind eight points from Asia Jones took a 10 and 0 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Lady Warriors behind four points from Markesha McLoud out scored East Laurens nine to four to take a commanding 19 to four lead at half time. The third quarter saw the Lady Warriors get outscored eight to four making the score D.C.M.S. 23 East Laurens 12 after third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Warriors behind, Katie Selph’s five points outscore East Laurens 11 to three. The final score was Dodge 34, East Laurens 15.
Scoring during the game were; Asia Jones 10 points, Katie Selph five points, Meisha Cross two points, Markesha McLoud six points, Rachel Selph five points and Ty Northcutt one point.
On December 7, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors traveled to Bleckley County to take on the Barons. The game started off slow and sluggish as the Lady Warriors lead only seven to six after the first quarter Davina Clark scored five points. The second quarter saw much of the same type play as the Lady Warriors would lead 12 to 11 at half time. Davina Clark added five points in the second quarter also. The third quarter would see the Lady Warriors outscore Bleckley 10 to six. Asia Jones lead the way with four points. The fourth quarter the Lady Warriors won by a score of 10 to six. Asia Jones scored five points to lead the way to a final score of D.C.M.S. 32 to Bleckley 23.

On December 10, the Lady Warriors played host to Toombs County. The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 10 to three lead after the first quarter. Jovanna Collins led the way with four points. The second quarter saw the Lady Warriors increase their lead to 20 to 10. Davina Clark scored seven points to lead the way. The third quarter saw the Lady Warriors increase their lead to 29 to 17 after three quarters. Davina Clark lead the way with three points the fourth quarter and saw the Lady Warriors maintain a comfortable lead and win the game by a score of 38 to 29.

On December 14 the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors behind a strong defense, and scoring from 10 different girls, defeated Dublin 41 to 16. Scoring during the game were; Asia Jones 10 points, Katie Selph seven points, Davina Clark six points, Rachel Selph five points, Meisha Cross three points, Markesha McLoud two points, T.Y. Northcutt two points, Jasmine Smith two points, Sheqore Jordan two points and Jovanna Collins two points.
On December 17, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors suffered their first loss of the season to West Laurens in a very close contest by a score of 31 to 28. The Lady Warriors lead at the end of the third quarter. Scoring in the game were; Asia Jones 11 points, Rachel Selph six points, Davina Clark four points, Katie Selph three points and Jovanna Collins three points.
On January 8, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors opened the second half of the season at Vidalia. The Lady Warriors played without Davina Clark, the Lady Warriors lead six to two after the first quarter. Katie Selph and Markesha McLoud hit a three pointer to account for the points. Rachel Selph had six points in the second quarter making the score 16 to 12 at half Dodge. The game stayed close in the second half, but the Lady Warriors never relinquished the lead, and went on to win by a score of 37 to 30. Scoring in the game were; Rachel Selph 12 points, Markesha McLoud 11 points, Asia Jones six points, Katie Selph three points, Jovanna Collins three pints and T.Y. Northcutt two points.
On January 11, the Lady Warriors played host to Swainsboro. Due to some very strong defense, the game was never in doubt, as the Lady Warriors won easily by a score of 31 to 15. Scoring in the game were; Rachel Selph eight points, Asia Jones seven points, Katie Selph six points, Markesha McLoud three pints, T.Y. Northcutt two points, Davina Clark two points, Sheqore Jordan two points and Jovanna Collins one point.
On January 14, the Lady Warriors played host to East Laurens. On this night the Lady Warriors struggled offensively. The defense was outstanding giving up only 15 points. The final score in the game was Dodge 28, East Laurens 15. Scoring in the game was; Jovanna Collins 10 points, Asia Jones seven points, Davina Clark four points, Rachel Selph four points and Katie Selph three points.
On January 19 the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors hosted a very good Bleckley County team who beat West Laurens. West Laurens is the only team to defeat the Lady Warriors. The Lady Warriors came out strong in the first quarter jumping to a 16 to three lead. Markesha McLoud lead the way with five points. The second quarter saw the Lady Warriors win 10 to seven. Rachel Selph and Asia Jones scored four points each. Bleckley cut the lead to 28 to 17 after three, but would get no closer as the Lady Warriors would win the fourth quarter nine to six, making the final score Dodge 37 and Bleckley 23. Scoring in the game were; Rachel Selph 10 points, Asia Jones eight points, Markesha McLoud seven points, Katie Selph six points, Davina Clark four points and T.Y. Northcutt two points.
On January 21, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors won a hard fought 32 to 21 game at Toombs County with two minutes left in the third quarter. The Lady Warriors had only a one point lead at 17 to 16. Those scoring during the game were; Asia Jones 13 points, Katie Selph seven points, Markesha McLoud four points, T.Y. Northcutt three points, Jovanna Collins two points, Davina Clark two points and Annie Moore one point.
On January 25, the Dodge County Middle School Lady Warriors traveled to Dublin to take on Dublin. The Lady Warriors behind Katie Selph’s seven points took a nine to four lead after one. The second quarter saw the Lady Warriors outscore Dublin 11 to six to lead 20 to 10 at half. Asia Jones, eight points in the third quarter would stretch the Warriors lead to 33 to 17 after three. The fourth quarter saw the bench empty and everyone played with the final score being Dodge 38 and Dublin 26. Those scoring during the game were Asia Jones 13 points, Katie Selph 12 points, Markesha McLoud five points, Davina Clark five points, Rachel Selph two points and Annie Moore one point.
On January 27 a rematch game was played between two teams with one region loss each. The Lady Warriors only loss came to West Laurens. The game saw the Lady Warriors get off to a fast start by outscoring West Laurens 17 to six in the first quarter Katie Selph’s six points lead the way. The second quarter saw West Laurens get back into the game but into the lead by outscoring Dodge 12 to six making the score Dodge 23, West Laurens 18. Katie Selph led the way with three points in the quarter. The third quarter would see the Lady Warriors bounce back by outscoring West Laurens 12 to five. Katie Selph and Markesha McLoud scored four points each. Dodge 35, West Laurens 23 at the end of three. The fourth quarter would see the Lady Warriors finish strong outscoring West Laurens nine to eight. Markesha McLoud led the way with four points. The final score was Dodge 44, West Laurens 31. Those scoring during the game were; Katie Selph 13 points, Asia Jones nine points, Markesha McLoud nine points, Rachel Selph six points, T.Y. Northcutt four points and Davina Clark three points.
The win gives the Lady Warriors a 13-1 region record. Number one seed in the region tournament next week at Dodge.
The Lady Warriors also played in a Christmas tournament this year at West Laurens winning two out three games.
Dodge defeated East Laurens 30 to 12, defeated Johnson County 45 to 15 and lost to West Laurens 39 to 29 in the championship game.
