Hosford won’t seek reelection

Dodge County Commissioner Carl Hosford announced that he will not seek reelection to his seat on the board of commissioners at the commission meeting on Monday, February 1.

In his announcement, Hosford simply stated, “It’s time for me to go home.” The District 2 seat comes up for election on July 20, 2010 along with the District 3 seat that is currently vacant due to the death of commissioner Edwin Burnham. A special election to fill Burnham’s seat will be held on March 16. Qualifying for the special election ends today (Wednesday, February 3) at 5:00 p.m. If a runoff is necessary, it will be held on April 13.
In other business, Dodge commissioners opened bids to pave Jimmy Pruett Road. The low bid of $85,378.00 from Land Care Services of Dublin was accepted. Commissioners hope paving of the road will begin sometime around April.
Dodge County Manager Kelly Bowen announced that there will be a preconstruction conference for the new jail held on Monday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the commissioner’s meeting room.

I wish the county commishioners would finish paving Ag Best Road, when it was started a few years ago, it was stopped and the rest of the money went as bonuses to city employees....(so Ive been told by mumerous people) The road has no ditches and in many parts is not wide enough for cars to pass. People are always stuck after every rainstorm, trying to give the right of way. The people on AG Best Road went to the county commishioners last year, and were told something would be done, however a land owner who does not live on that road will not give up the right of way because he has a fence up...ever heard of imonent domain?...well we are still waiting and pulling high school kids playing in the road out of what used to be a ditch...now the water just runs down the middle of road...
