Thirteen Dodge County Jr. Grappling Indians descended upon the 4th Annual Michael Gay Memorial Wrestling Tournament recently to take on wrestlers across south Georgia.
After a long day of aggressive wrestling, the Indians brought home the hardware in grand fashion raking in 16 medals and the 2nd place team trophy for their collective efforts. This tournament marked the wrestling debut for newcomer Clayton Scarborough, 10U, 70 pounds, who eagerly battled against more experienced competitors and walked away with the first medal of his career. Also wrestling for the Jr. Grapplers were Josh Rogers, Porter Faulk, Anthony Mannella, Vincent Mannella, Crosse Bearden, Aiden Greer, Christian Grauberberger, James Rogers, Ty Belflower, Jacob Danforth, Trey Mosely, and Heath Sanders. The Jr. Grapplers are preparing for the state qualifier next month at Toombs County in hopes of earning a chance to compete against the best of the best in the Georgia Kids State Tournament.
