New names on the ballot for the House of Representatives 8th District

Editor,
There will be some new names on the ballot for the House of Representatives 8th District. Three of those names made a visit to city hall recently. The group that gathered was small in number so access to the candidates was easy and everyone lingered after the meeting to conversation. It’s interesting to exchange thoughts and ideas with those seeking office and also to get to know others within the district.

The health care plan and talk of cap and trade seemed to top the list of concerns. Along with those concerns with this matter of deficiency in government, a deficiency of loyalty to the people within the 8th district. We elect representatives to represent us, our interests, our concerns so that we the people might have a voice in our government.
I won’t make any predictions about the midterm election, but I do believe it’s a matter that won’t be taken lightly. Once the elected disrespect their constituents respect is lost for those in office. After that the ballot box can be likened to a sledge hammer.
