Coach Parks Athlete Award is established at high school

Parks was the assistant high school wrestling coach and coached varsity football, varsity track, and junior varsity basketball. His leadership, concern for his players, and personally motivated young athletes for more than 10 years.
Coach Parks was a friend and mentor to athletes across Georgia, regardless of school affiliation. In one of many acts of kindness, Parks purchased a new pair of wrestling shoes for Dodge County’s only wrestler competing in the 2009 Georgia State Wrestling tournament. He also bought a pair for the wrestler who beat our kid in the Area Tournament finals two years in a row.
This award recognizes outstanding achievers in high school sports. The award is a specially designed patch from NEFF to be worn on the recipient’s school letter jacket. Each award is uniquely created in the awardees school colors and sport.
Two awards are presented annually; one to a Dodge County High School athlete and one to an athlete in Georgia whose sportsmanship, athletic prowess, and positive attitude inspires others to achieve excellence.
