11 Jr. Grappling Indians compete in Tour of Georgia

In the morning session, fans were on their feet during two overtime bouts as Christian Grauberger clawed his way to a Silver medal finish at 10U, 76 pounds. Wrestling seven matches for the day, Aiden Greer recorded one loss to settle for a Gold Medal and Bronze Medal at 10U, 67 and 70 pounds respectfully.
At 10U, 64 pounds, Crosse Bearden wasted little time dispensing of his opponents with his trademark aggressiveness on his way to a Silver medal.
James Rogers, 10U, 73 pounds and 76 pounds, stepped back on the mat for the first time this season and brought home two well-deserved Bronze medals.
Vincent Mannella, 8U, 57 and 61 pounds, and wrestling in arguably the toughest brackets of the day, scrambled through several tight scoring bouts and overtime matches. When the dust settled, he earned two Bronze medals and the respect of his opponents, coaches, and fans. At 6U, 60 and 65 pounds, Porter Faulk impressed everyone with his wrestling style as he managed to smile while beating his opponents and always displayed impeccable sportsmanship. Faulk earned two Bronze medals for his efforts. Perhaps the most impressive wrestler of the day was Josh Rogers. Entering his first tournament of the season, he took to the mats at 6U and won a Gold medal and Silver medal after a long day of grappling against tough opponents. Also representing the Jr. Grappling Indians were Ty Belflower, 10U, 100 pounds and Anthony Mannella, 6U, 49 pounds. Although they came up just short of earning medals, their demeanor, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes impressed coaches and parents.
Overall, the Jr. Grappling Indians are a force to be reckoned with and coaches and parents expect big things from them in the upcoming state qualifier.
Grappling Indians next home wrestling match, will be held on Friday, January 15 at 4:00 p.m.
