Although the Grappling Warriors started their first ever middle school season less than seven weeks ago, spectators were shocked to witness them roll through wrestlers from Vidalia and Jeff-Davis recently at home.
Battling against Vidalia, the Warriors recorded 10 pins to defeat the Vidalia Indians by a score of 60-36. Highlighting the match up was Brandon Roland, 85 pounds, who recorded his first ever pin after being down on points into the third period.
Also displaying exceptional skill and determination was JT Shields who recorded two pins for the night.
Building on the momentum from the Vidalia win, the Warriors took on a stiffer challenge against Jeff-Davis. Historically a very strong team, Jeff-Davis was unprepared for the Warriors and fell by a score of 54-36.
Highlighting this match up was co-captain Jacob Danforth’s 14 second pin setting a new middle school record. Seth Braswell, 100 pounds, and Walker Stanley, 175 pounds, also recorded their first middle school pins of the season.
