Squaws open season with wins over Jones and Hawkinsville

The Squaws jumped out to a 16-8 first quarter lead over the Lady Greyhounds of Jones County last Tuesday. Tahitia Butler led in the quarter with seven points while Jaye Hilliard and Staci Ross added three pointers. Dodge extended their lead to 28-16 over Jones by outscoring them 12-8 in the second quarter and was led by Butler with seven points in the second quarter.
Dodge led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter before the Lady Greyhound cut the lead to 42-30 after three quarters. Butler and Michelle Mitchell each had three points in the third to lead Dodge. Jones County could get no closer than eight points in the final quarter as several Squaws scored in the quarter to hold on to a 52-42 win over the Lady Greyhounds.
Final scoring for the Squaws against Jones County was: Tahitia Butler, 18 points; Kemiya Harrell, seven points; Michelle Mitchell, seven points; Jaye Hilliard, six points; Yaleisa Burns, four points; Kadejah Carson, four points; Kadayasha Jones, three points; Staci Ross, three points.
Dodge County ran to a seven to nothing lead to open their game with Hawkinsville on Friday, December 4 and lead 7-4 at the end of the first quarter. Tahitia Butler had three points to lead the scoring for the Squaws in the quarter. The Squaws outscored the Lady Red Devils 20-4 in the second quarter to take 27-8 halftime lead. Butler again led the scoring for Dodge with eight points in the quarter. Kemiya Harrell scored five points in the quarter including a three pointer to lead the Squaws. Kadayasha Jones had four points in the final quarter to help Dodge outscore the Lady Devils 11-4 in the final quarter and take a 48-23 win over Hawkinsville in the home opener.

The Squaws have games scheduled on Tuesday, December 8 at Toombs County and host Bleckley County on Friday, December 11 and host Swainsboro on Saturday, December 12. All Tuesday games begin at 6:00 p.m. with Friday games beginning at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday games at 4:00 p.m.
