Dear Editor,

Please excuse me for using this method of communication to express my thoughts and thanks to each of you, but I believe this is the best way to reach as many past and current DCHS students and staff members as possible. God has chosen to bless me beyond any level that I deserve. I have an outstanding family, a great church, a rewarding second career, and many other blessings too numerous to name. Sometimes we get caught up in what is going on with us today and fail to see or be thankful for what we have already been blessed with in the past. This is the reason I am writing this letter.

Recently, the DCHS Homecoming Committee selected me to serve as grand marshall of the Homecoming Parade. Throughout my 31 years in education, 21 of which were spent in Dodge County, I have been honored to be a part of many outstanding professional and personal times of accomplishment and recognition. No honor that I’ve ever received meant any more to me than when Mr. Prentiss Thomas notified me that I had been selected as grand marshall of the 2009 Homecoming Parade.
As I proudly rode through Eastman that Friday afternoon in the parade, I reflected on many of the outstanding students, staff, community leaders, board members, and former superintendents of which I had the honor to work with and for throughout my career. The great thing about looking back is that I tend to remember only the good times and they were numerous. I wouldn’t trade a day or change a thing about my 31 year career. I was and am truly blessed. God is good all the time!
