The Grappling Warriors traveled to Toombs County to participate in the Middle Georgia Middle School Athletic Association Region Tournament.
Filling only 14 out of 22 weight classes, the Warriors placed third as a Team being edged out for second place by West Laurens by a margin of two points.
Out of 14 wrestlers on the Dodge line up, 11 placed in the top four and five wrestlers were crowned region champions.
Crosse Bearden, who suffered a fractured arm at last year’s region tournament, battled through the competition to win gold in the 75 pound class.
Returning Region Champion Beck Morgan, wrestling up at 80 pounds, captured his second region title in as many years. At 85 pounds, Clayton Scarborough gave up 10 lbs and earned a fourth place finish.
First year Grappling Warrior Christian Grauberger wrestled up in the 90 pound bracket and made easy work of his opponents earning another gold medal for Dodge County.
At 95 pounds, James Rogers earned a hard fought bronze medal battling back from a loss in the semi-finals. Jared Cannon, wrestling in the 100 lb bracket, brought home another bronze medal for the Warriors.
In the 105 lb weight class, co-captain J.T. Shields also worked his way through the consolation bracket to earn a bronze medal.
Winning a bronze medal last year, Austin Soles, 115 pounds, revenged an earlier loss in the season against Dublin to capture a gold medal.
Antoine Squires battled in the 220 pounds class settling for a silver medal, one place better than his performance last season.
At 240 pounds, Cameron McLoud, stepped back on the mats after a long absence and earned a silver medal for his efforts.
Wrestling in the heavyweight bracket, returning region runner-up and co-captain Aaron Spires, dominated his opponents bringing home a gold medal.
Also wrestling for the Warriors but falling just shy of placing were Noah Atkinson, 110 pounds; Cobie Greene, 120 pounds, and Timothy Skeens, 125 pounds.
The region tournament capped off another impressive season for the Grappling Warriors whose display of aggressive wrestling, physical toughness, and sportsmanship have been the hallmark of the squad for the past three seasons.
