County approves $2.75 million line of credit

Bowen was instructed by county commissioners at the November 21, 2011 meeting to ask the local banks to bid on the line of credit (operating loan for 2012) for Dodge County.

Colony Bank responded that they would issue the line of credit at 4.5% interest. The Bank of Eastman and Citizens Bank and Trust did not submit a bid, according to Bowen.

The line of credit will be used to pay day-to-day general operating expenses of the county and will be repaid to the bank by tax revenue collected at the end of 2012. The 2012 budget approved by the commissioners showed projected tax revenue of $5,635,056.00.

The board of commissioners, consisting of Jr. Howell, Terry Niblett, Brian Watkins, Karen Cheek and Dan McCranie, voted 4-0 to accept the recommendation of Bowen. Howell abstained from voting.

Duane Conley provided commissioners with a map proposing a new location for the dumpsters on the Airport Road.

According to commissioner Watkins, the site is the same location that was previously decided on and the Eastman/Dodge County Development

Authority (owners of the property) declined the usage of the property for the dumpster site.

After little discussion, Watkins made a motion to table action on Conley’s request. Howell seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
