Elvis Nixon, a savvy observer and commentator, is not impressed by Texas Governor and presidential candidate Rick Perry.
“Rick Perry is Texan for ‘Charlie Crist.’

Remember when SORE (Staid Old Republican Establishment) types wanted ultra phony sellout Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate and called on Marco Rubio to get out of the Florida Senate race? These characters also opposed Rand Paul in Kentucky. Both men wisely ignored the SORE folks and stayed in - and won big.
The Republican establishment is hostile toward conservatism.
“The GOP rulers sabotaged Barry Goldwater and were ultimately stuck with Ronald Reagan. Contrary to quaint historical rewrites, they were not in his camp. Instead, the GOP rulers bogged Reagan down with dealmakers and principle-shredders.”
Brent Bozell on CNSNews.com
Why did big media ignore former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson in the presidential race? He is a credible candidate with an excellent record in two terms as governor of New Mexico and is said to still be very popular in the state. Term limits kept him from running again. He’s only 58 and is in great shape, goes mountain climbing regularly, bicycles and runs marathons. He might be the most interesting person running. Maybe they were afraid he would catch on nationally. Gary has a great life story. He is friendly, unassuming and modest about his achievements. If elected we would be out of the Middle East in about one week. You should check him out. I still think the best Republicans running are Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and Gary Johnson. In fact, both Ron Paul and Gary Johnson, when asked to choose a vice-presidential running mate, picked each other.
In the previous presidential race, the media pushed Rudy Giuliani (remember him?) as the inevitable candidate, the immediate frontrunner. No other Republican had a chance to take the nomination from liberal Rudy. To win, you must pick Rudy the media man. As it turned out, Rudy G. never received one delegate vote before dropping out of the race in the early Spring of 2008.
“You can always tell that Christians are getting ready to celebrate the birth of their Saviour by the extra-long line-ups at the liquor stores.”
William Bedford on CanadaFreePress.com
Remember William Bedford, the seven-foot tall center from Memphis State and the Detroit Pistons? They are not one and the same. This gentleman was born in Ireland, lives in Canada and writes great commentary and poetry on CanadaFreePress.com, which I check daily.
Another Republican presidential candidate ignored by the leftstream media is former Louisiana governor Buddy Roemer.
“Los Angeles just enacted a ban on plastic grocery bags. That put three or four manufacturers out of business.”
Jeff Stone, Riverside County Supervisor
The Republican Mr. Stone has proposed a new state, a breakoff from California to be called the 51st state of “South California.” I thought the president said we had 57 states. Maybe South California could be #58. The proposal would break off 13 generally conservative-leaning California counties from the state. It would have 13 million people and intentionally leaves out the very liberal city of Los Angeles.
Bumper sticker of the day: Why Are Peace Activists So Violent?
BULB (Better Use of Light Bulbs) Act was a great proposal that would have kept the old reliable Edison light bulb burning - good for Republican Representative Joe Barton of Texas, who introduced the bill. The bill needed a 2/3 vote and unfortunately fell a bit short. Let’s hope they introduce it again. We need it.
“If left alone, the best bulb will win its rightful standing in the marketplace. Government doesn’t need to be in the business of telling people what light bulb they have to use.”
U.S. Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming)
“Loyalty to your country should never require you to lie about it.”
