The wrestling season is in full swing as Dodge County has teams competing across the state last week. In middle school action, the Grappling Warriors traveled to Telfair County to battle with the Jr. Trojans and Montgomery County.
They also wrestled their home debut match of the season against Dublin and Telfair County. At all stops, the young Warriors are turning heads and displaying incredible sportsmanship and intestinal fortitude.
Continuing their undefeated streak on the mat, both Beck Morgan and Crosse Bearden have turned in very impressive performances with every match.
Notable warriors also excelling early in the season include Clayton Scarborough, Zach Chapman, Christian Grauberger, James Rogers, co-captain JT Shields, Jared Cannon, Austin Soles, Noah Atkinson, Cobie Green, Tyler Mullis, Antoine Squires and co-captain Aaron Spires.
In high school action, the Grappling Indians are scrapping with several new teams this year in their fifth season.
They opened their home debut with a hard fought victory over Baldwin County and traveled to Jeff Davis to take on the Yellow Jackets and Montgomery County.
Led by co-captains TJ Spires and Will Morgan, the Grappling Indians have truly worked hard against some tough competition.
Recently, they competed at the historically tough West Laurens Invitational where several grapplers won hard fought victories including Brandon Roland, Cole Honeycutt, Tad Honeycutt, Samuel Stafford and Chandler Cannon.
Also wrestling tough were Michael Wrease, Jaquan Mann, Kelby Amerson and Drew Hawkins. Medaling at the tournament were TJ Spires (second place) and Will Morgan (third place).
In Jr. Grappling Indian action several kids have traveled as far as North Georgia seeking the toughest competition on the mat. Porter Faulk recently earned his first gold medal of the season in Bremen, while Jason Lann earned a gold medal in Marietta.
McCay Turner, Aiden Greer, Christian Grauberger, Porter Faulk and Jared Cannon also competed in the Centennial Holiday Classic earning six medals between them. This past weekend, Christian Grauberger, Aiden Greer and Jared Cannon turned in impressive victories at the Kell Longhorn Christmas Tournament.
Grauberger walked away with a first and second place finish in two separate weight classes, Greer earned a first place finish and Cannon took a hard fought fourth place finish.
