The Dodge County School District and the Dodge County Board of Education filed a notice of intent on December 8, 2011 to introduce local legislation at the 2012 Georgia General Assembly. This bill will amend its voting districts in order to provide for reapportionment in accordance with the 2010 Census and in accordance with law and for other purposes.
Dodge County School Superintendent Dr. Melinda Dennis, Georgia State Representative Jimmy Pruett and school board members Roscoe Bennett, Ricky Hargrove, Dee Yearty and Mark Driggers traveled to Atlanta on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 to meet with members of the state’s reapportionment office to evaluate and understand the purpose and need for redistricting. Redistricting is for the purpose of equalizing the population of districts and complying with state and federal requirements. The 2010 Census shows a total population of 20,547 for Dodge County. There are seven (7) school districts in Dodge County.
Maps of the proposed school board districts are available at the superintendent’s office located at 5911 Oak Street in Eastman.
