The Rhine City Council agreed to accept an agreement prepared by city attorney Joey Marchant for former employee June Sheffield to pay restitution of $300.00 per month with a final payment of $100.00 over a period of 23 months. Marchant informed council that Sheffield agreed to the restitution and agreed to signing the agreement with the first payment due on January 15, 2012.
Discussion was held and councilman Wayne Hilliard made a motion to have the restitution payments made directly to the trust account of attorney Marchant. Councilman Roy Williams seconded the motion with no objections from council.
Sheffield will pay a total amount of $7,000.00 for water bill payments that were applied to water bills but were not deposited into the water bank account over a period of time from January 2011 to June 2011.
In other business, discussion was held regarding moving the election polls from city hall to the community center. Attorney Marchant asked the council to table the matter until he could research the necessary documentation needed in order for this to occur.
The cooler at the old Rhine Elementary School will be advertised for bids to be sold. Hilliard made the motion to sell the cooler, seconded by Williams.
Councilperson Kay Spires provided financial updates to council regarding all bank accounts. Williams made a motion to accept all financial reports. Councilperson Dena Barrows seconded the motion.
