Elections were held in Dodge County and the cities of Eastman, Chester and Rhine on Tuesday, November 8. The following are the results of those elections.
Only 1302 people voted countywide in the referendum to decide whether or not a one percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) would be extended for the Dodge County School System.
The referendum passed by a vote of 971 to 331.
In the City of Eastman city council races, two new candidates and one incumbent have won.
In District 2, incumbent Buddy Pittman defeated challenger Steve Greer 217 to 153.
In District 3, Raymond Mullis defeated incumbent Jack Burnham 123 to 108.
In District 4, Bobby Slye defeated incumbent Faye Jessup 147 to 122.
In the Chester mayor’s race, incumbent mayor Charles E. Parker beat challenger Louie G. Mullis 101 to 26.
In the city council races, Susan Coley won her race against Andrew C. Goins 87 to 39 for Post 1.
Elaine Bailey won her race against Billy G. Allen, Jr. 79 to 45 for Post 2.
Glynn Stanley Pittman, Jr. (Post 3) and Vanessa L. Henley (Post 4) ran unopossed.
In the Rhine mayor and city council races, the incumbent mayor has been returned to office, but a whole new council will take over in January.
Mayor Carter Clements beat challenger Sharleen Williams 114 to 68.
In the city council race, the top four vote getters won. They are Eddie A. Cravey with 119, D. Allen Parrish with 102, Joann D. Hamilton with 95 and Jacqueline Clements with 92.
Other candidates were Roy Williams with 86 and Kaye Spires with 83.
