Three men were arrested Saturday October 29 based on a call to the Dodge-Wilcox 911 Center. The 911 caller stated that the men were stealing scrap metal from the property of the caller’s family located on Benevolence Church Road. The alleged thieves fled the area in a pick up truck after being spotted by the caller. The caller followed the truck while staying on the phone with 911.
Dodge County deputies caught up to the truck on Isham Springs Road and stopped the vehicle. The patrol deputies arrested the three men and recovered the stolen property. The three men Edwin Grandville Williams (age 45), Ray Johnson (age 40), and Tyronza Clarence Faicson (age 33) all of Eastman addresses. Each one has been charged with theft by taking and criminal trespassing in connection with the investigation.
Dodge County Sheriff Jeff Hinson stated that the quick arrests were possible because the caller immediately reported the crime and gave good, continuous information to the 911 Center. Hinson went on to encourage all citizens to call and report suspicious activity and people. Sheriff Hinson said, “It is all about people helping and looking out for each other. Next time it may be your property they are stealing.”
Dodge County sheriff’s investigators have made an arrest in two recent burglaries. Solomon Bray (age 37), of Eastman, was charged with two counts of burglary on October 21. Investigators allege that Bray broke into a home on the Hawkinsville Highway and stole jewelry.
Investigators also allege that Bray was part of a group that recently broke into H&S Recycling on the Soperton Highway. Investigators state there are other arrests pending in the burglary of the recycling business.
Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested an Eastman man on October 25. Agents have charged Anthony Jackson Yawn (age 54) with one count of child molestation and one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the GBI with the case due to a possible conflict of interest concerning the parties involved.
