Dodge County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Cottondale neighborhood in Eastman last Thursday afternoon to a shooting. Reports state that a group of males were walking on Park Drive near Peacock Avenue, when a car pulled up near the group. An occupant inside the car called one the young men in group toward the car. The occupant then allegedly took a hand gun and began firing several times in the direction of the victim. The suspect fled from the area. Sheriff’s deputies, with the assistance of police officers from Eastman, quickly canvassed the area and began gathering leads in the case.
Sheriff’s investigators arrested the shooting suspect the following day and recovered the hand gun involved in the incident. Cedric Demetrius Parker (age 18), of Eastman, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon and with discharging a firearm from a public roadway.
The Milan and Chauncey Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the Telfair C.I. Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called to a residential structure fire on Sunday night October 9 shortly after 10:00 p.m. The fire occurred at a residence on the Milan-Chauncey Highway near Sweet Home Church Road. Fire and law enforcement officials determined that the fire was caused by arson. Sheriff’s investigators have arrested the homeowner, Lisa Kay Sheffield (age 47), in connection with case. Sheffield is charged with arson in the first degree.
Sheriff’s narcotic investigators made several drug arrests last Friday afternoon. Investigators arrested Kendale Flint (age 20), of Eastman, on Livingston Street after recovering several bags of marijuana. Flint has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Investigators also arrested Christopher Lee Mitchell (age 19). Mitchell is charged with possession of marijuana.
Thomas Levi Strutchens (age 38), of Eastman, was arrested from a residence on Sixth Avenue in Eastman on Friday. Strutchens has been charged with the sale of cocaine by investigators.
Investigators arrested three men from a residence on South Carolina Street in Eastman also on Friday. Eric Jerrard Walker (age 20), of Eastman, has been charged with the sale of cocaine and with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Travis Walker (age 27), of Eastman, has been charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and with possession of the controlled substance Zanax with intent to distribute. Brad Walker (age 31), of Eastman, has been charged with possession of crack cocaine.
Dodge County sheriff’s school resource deputies arrested a fourteen (14) year old juvenile at the Dodge County Middle School on October 4. Multiple hydrocodone pills were recovered from the student. The juvenile has been charged with possession of a controlled substance on school grounds with intent to distribute.
Tammy Teresa Spires (age 40), of Eastman, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies last Thursday, October 13. Spires has been charged with several counts of forgery and has an outstanding bench warrant from Dodge Superior Court. Spires allegedly forged several checks belonging to an individual who resides on Fred Bohannon Road.
Sheriff’s investigators arrested an Eastman man also on Thursday in connection with a residential burglary that occurred recently on Sanders Cemetery Road south of Chauncey.
Investigators have charged Vick Lamarke Edwards (age 18), of Eastman, with burglary in connection with the case.
