Karen Cheek has won the Dodge County Commission District 4 runoff special election defeating Sandra Dupree with a vote count of 267 to 222. Cheek will fill the vacancy of former commissioner, the late Archie Dupree. Dupree's term will end December 31, 2012.
Good Job Sandra Dupree you are a strong lady and God got your back. You went through a tragedy and came out swinging to take your husband's seat. You are strong lady and I hope that you can find another worthy cause in the community that Archie would liked to have seen take place. Sandra, Archie is smiling down on you because you tried, sometime it is not about the winner but the person who tries especially in a time like this.
Thanks for those encouraging words. I know she will appreciate that.
Once again, congratulations to Ms. Cheek.
Regards,
Mrs. Carlyle
My prayer is that you will continue in the footsteps of Archie Dupree, a position he fought so hard to keep for the betterment of the 4th district. He always held close to what was right, fair, and equal to all. His loyalty, fairness, and justice for all were his true character and the qualities he upheld for district 4, and he failed not to use those in other districts.
I pray that you will visit the 4th district, even in the poorest neighborhoods to ensure that it is maintained equally as other districts. There is so much that can be done to improve it. Please don't let it go by the wayside as it was before Archie Dupree took office. You have a large pair of shoes to fill...don't be bullied by those already among you or like you.
May God be with you during this year, and that you will look to Him for guidance, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in the role you are about to fill.
Good luck!
Respectfully,
Ms. Carlyle
