On Thursday, the Dodge County Middle School Warriors ran their record to 2-2 with a commanding 22-6 win on the road against Swainsboro. The Warriors now control their own destiny for a playoff as wins over East Laurens this Thursday on the road and a season ending win over Bleckley County next Thursday in Eastman will put Dodge in the playoffs.
Dodge completely dominated Swainsboro with a strong defense performance. The Warriors had a shutout going until late in the game when the outcome wasn’t a question. Dodge didn’t allow a first down until the final drive of the game. Coach Tony Taylor said that Keith Glover and Alec White were both strong on the defensive side of the ball. “Our defense has been strong all year.’ Taylor said. “The offense is getting better and now we are taking care of the ball,” noted Taylor.
The offense was lead by quarterback Clint Thompson as he threw a pair of touchdown passes to Ricky Collins and he ran for a third score to give Dodge a 22-0 lead. Cody White and Chip Dowdy had strong games on the offensive line.
The seventh grade Warriors will host Bleckley County next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors will host Bleckley County next Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the regular season finale.
