Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency personnel responded to a 911 call of a man being shot at a residence on Shady Acres Drive just outside of Eastman around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30.
Deputies arrived and found seventeen (17) year old Dylan Williams with a gun shot wound to his right leg. Williams apparently came to the residence for help after being shot at a hunting club located off the Ocmulgee Church Road.
The investigation into the incident by deputies revealed that Williams had been in an altercation with Alan Bennett Peacock, age forty eight (48), at the hunting club. At some point during the physical altercation, Peacock allegedly shot Williams in the leg with a .22 caliber rifle.
Williams was transported to the Dodge County Hospital Emergency Room for treatment. Peacock was arrested by sheriff’s investigators and booked into the Dodge County jail. Peacock has been charged with aggravated assault. Investigators say that alcohol and prescription drugs played a role in the incident.
The investigation is still ongoing by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and more charges could be pending.
