Dodge County emergency personnel were called to an abandoned garage on Fred Bohannon Road on Sunday, September 18 to a man trapped under a vehicle around 9:15 a.m. Emergency workers arrived to find a deceased male pinned under an abandoned vehicle, which had been left at the garage.
Dodge County Coroner Joe Smith pronounced the person dead. The coroner has identified the deceased as Mark Rowland, a.k.a. “Bubba Red”, (age 46), of Eastman. Smith stated that Rowland had been dead for approximately 8-10 hours before being found by a passer-by who called 911 after seeing the man’s head and arms sticking out from under the vehicle.
Dodge County sheriff’s investigators state that it appears that Rowland was attempting to remove the catalytic convertor off of the BMW car that fell on him. Investigators say that Rowland was in possession of mechanical tools and a flashlight. Investigators state that Rowland had already partially unhooked the convertor from the car when the car fell off a small jack stand, crushing Rowland’s torso beneath the “low rider” BMW car.
