Deputy makes arrest while checking suspicious truck

The deputy removed the driver from the truck and took him into custody. A small gun was discovered on the driver concealed in a cell phone case on the man’s belt. The driver was identified as Tommy Franklin Hames (age 43), a.k.a. “Dew Crew”, of Eastman.
Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators were able to secure search warrants for the Hames’ business and home. Deputies searched Hames’ mechanical shop on the Soperton Highway in Eastman and Hames’ residence located on Jim Ross Road. Deputies recovered a stolen motorcycle from the business and several firearms from the residence. The motorcycle was determined to have been stolen from a residence on Fair Haven Church Road. Hames is charged with possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a concealed weapon and theft by receiving stolen property.
Sheriff’s investigators have solved another burglary. The burglary occurred on John Edge Road in the Chester area. Investigators have recovered three (3) stolen firearms from a residence taken in the burglary. Investigators have charged Maurice Terrell Jenkins (age 25) of Cochran, with burglary as a result of the investigation.
