The Dodge County High School girl’s tennis team competed against Harlem High School in the first round of the state playoffs on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. The girls dominated Harlem, winning 5-0. Winners included first singles, Meredith Hutcheson, second singles, Mary Beth Dopson, third singles, Jessie Thomas, first doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning and second doubles, Precious Coleman and Mattie Grace Hutcheson. The girls are scheduled to play Berrien County High School on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Nashville at 2:00 p.m.
The boy’s team competed against Johnson-Augusta on Thursday, April 19, 2018. The boys played a tough match, winning 4-1. Winners included first singles, Brock Woodard, third singles, Jason Peterson, first doubles, Christian Grauberger and John Barclay Jessup and second doubles, Ryan Clements and Orlanda Brown. The boys will play Early County High School on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Blakely at 10:00 a.m.

Lady Indians Soccer team win Region 3AA
The Lady Indians Soccer team won the Region 3AA Championship on April 20, 2018 by beating Washington County at home in a 4-0 win to end the regular season.
The Lady Indians will play Screven County in Sylvania in their first playoff game on April 26, 2018.

Simmons named player of the week

For the second time this season, former Dodge High Lady Indian Margaret Simmons has been named Southern States Athletic Conference player of the week.
Her week started in grand fashion, as she hit her ninth homer of the year. She hit a fourth inning grand slam in the Lady Knights’ 8-3 win over Brewton Parker. In game two, Simmons went two for three, and she scored the game’s only run in a 1-0 win. She stole two bases, as well.
Friday, the Lady Knights hosted Martin Methodist out of Tennessee. Simmons went one for four in the first game, but it was huge as her tenth homerun was a two-run walkoff in the seventh for a 5-4 win.
Simmons would have a big game two. She hit her 11th homer of the year, a three-run shot in the second in an 8-3 win. She added a pair of singles, and she scored three runs in the game.
For the season, she is hitting .391 with 12 doubles, two triples, 11 homers and 27 RBIs. She also has a slugging percentage of .696.

On April 17, 2018, the Dodge County Indians hosted Bleckley County.
Tyler Pruett was the starting pitcher and had his longest outing of the year, pitching nine innings, allowing one run on five hits walking two and striking out nine.
Offensively for the Indians, Gary Pittman was two for four; Tyler Pruett was one for three; Chandler Davis went one for four; Kaden Burse was one for four; Daniel Coleman was one for four; Chip Burch had a run batted in (RBI) and Andrew Lowery came through with a walk off hit in the bottom of the ninth.
The Indians won 2-1 in nine innings.
On April 20, 2018, The Indians traveled to Dublin to take on the Irish.

The girls faced Dublin High School in the first round and won 5-0. Winners included first singles, Meredith Hutcheson, second singles, Mary Beth Dopson, third singles, Jessie Thomas, first doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning and second doubles, Mattie Grace Hutcheson and Precious Coleman.
The girls then played tough opponents from Bleckley County High School and lost 0-5 to end the tournament.

Winners included second singles, Nathan Newman, third singles, Jason Peterson and first doubles, John Barclay Jessup and Christian Grauberger.

Dodge Archery teams place second in state tournament

The Dodge County Middle School Archery Team placed second in the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) State 3-D Archery Tournament on last Saturday. Deanna Yancey placed first in the overall female middle school division. The 3-D team archers are Mitchell Johnson, Zack Anderson, Ty Farmer, Chase Bryson, Tristian Bass and Haley Cossett.
The Dodge County High Archery Team won second at the State NASP 3-D Archery Tournament last Saturday. In addition, Jacob Towns placed third in overall high school male and Keely Farmer placed second overall high school female.
The other high school archers participating were Tyler Crowe, Josh Williams, Nickolas Varndoe, Brayden Nardi, Hannah McCranie, Katilyn Allen, Destanee Holliman, Abby Hightower, Zoey Durden and Aliyah Durham.
A Department of Natural Resource Education Specialist was on hand for the event.

Dodge soccer teams face off against non-region teams first week of April
The Dodge County High School Indian soccer teams travelled to Hazlehurst and Crisp County last week for two non-region matchups.
On Tuesday, April 3, 2018, the teams played Jeff Davis County.
The Lady Indians tied the game by a score of 1-1. The Indians lost the game to the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets by a score of 5-2.
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, both girls and boys teams traveled to Cordele to play the Cougars of Crisp County. This was not a good day for either team. The Lady Indians were defeated by the Lady Cougars by a score of 2-1.
The Indians lost to Crisp County with a final score of 2-0 in the non-region game.
The Dodge County Lady Indians are now 7-7-1 overall for the season and 2-4 in region play. The boys are now 6-8 overall and 4-2 in Region 3AA.
Both teams face important challenges as their next two opponents will be region foes. On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, Dodge will face Dublin at home.

The Indians won 12-2 in five innings.

The Dodge County High School Tennis team had a busy week of matches this week while getting ready for the region tournament. The teams played Hawkinsville on March 26, 2018. The boys and girls won 3-2.
First singles, Meredith Hutcheson won 8-5. First doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning won 8-0. Second doubles, Precious Coleman and Ellie Jones won 8-2. Second singles, Nathan Newman won 8-4. Third singles, Jason Peterson won 8-5. First doubles, John Barclay Jessup and Christian Grauberger won 8-3.
The teams played Telfair County on March 27, 2018. The girls won 4-1. First singles, Meredith Hutcheson won 6-4, 6-3. Third singles, Jessie Thomas won 6-1, 6-2. First doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning won 6-1, 6-0. Second doubles, Ellie Jones and Precious Coleman won 6-0, 6-0.
The boys lost to Telfair 2-3. Second singles, Nathan Newman won 2-6, 6-3, 10-7. Third singles, Jason Peterson won 6-2, 6-2.
The teams traveled to Appling County on March 29, 2018. Both teams came up short, but second singles for the boys, Nathan Newman won 6-3, 6-7, 10-7.

The Dodge County High School Tennis team had a busy week of matches this week while getting ready for the region tournament. The teams played Hawkinsville on March 26, 2018. The boys and girls won 3-2.
First singles, Meredith Hutcheson won 8-5. First doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning won 8-0. Second doubles, Precious Coleman and Ellie Jones won 8-2. Second singles, Nathan Newman won 8-4. Third singles, Jason Peterson won 8-5. First doubles, John Barclay Jessup and Christian Grauberger won 8-3.
The teams played Telfair County on March 27, 2018. The girls won 4-1. First singles, Meredith Hutcheson won 6-4, 6-3. Third singles, Jessie Thomas won 6-1, 6-2. First doubles, Abby C. Manning and Abbey M. Manning won 6-1, 6-0. Second doubles, Ellie Jones and Precious Coleman won 6-0, 6-0.
The boys lost to Telfair 2-3. Second singles, Nathan Newman won 2-6, 6-3, 10-7. Third singles, Jason Peterson won 6-2, 6-2.
The teams traveled to Appling County on March 29, 2018. Both teams came up short, but second singles for the boys, Nathan Newman won 6-3, 6-7, 10-7.

Indians win three straight at home to remain undefeated in region 3AA

The Dodge County High School Indians Baseball team hosted Montgomery County on Monday, March 26, 2018. Andrew Lowery was the starting pitcher going two and one-third innings, allowing three runs on two hits, walking three and striking out two. Parker Gay pitched five and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing six runs on nine hits, walking one and striking out four. Dodge’s defense committed six errors in the game to help keep Montgomery in the game.
Offensively for the Indians, Kaden Burse was three for four with two doubles and three runs batted in (RBIs); Tyler Pruett was three for four with a double and two RBIs; Chip Burch was two for three with an RBI; Andrew Lowery was two for two with two RBIs; Gary Pittman was one for four with an RBI; Chandler Davis was one for three and Daniel Coleman also had an RBI. The Indians scored in the bottom of the 8th inning to win a close game 10-9.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2018, Dodge County hosted Dublin High School. Gary Pittman got the start on the mound going six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out six.
