The Dodge County Wrestling team accomplished a first in the program’s short history; the team crowned four individual champions at the area championships. The Indians entered nine wrestlers into the tournament, the top four placers at each weight move on to the sectionals tournament next weekend, and a chance to earn their spot in the state tournament.
Senior Christian Grauberger, a two time state placer and last year’s state runner-up, came into the area tournament as the number one seed with a 36-1 record on the year and continued his dominance on the mat, pinning his competition in the first period to become champion at 152 pounds.
Senior Jared Cannon, last year’s area champion and two time state placer, received the number one seed and proved he was worthy, winning his first two matches by pin and defeating his opponent from Callaway in the finals by decision to become the 160-pound champion.
Senior Tyler Montford, a state qualifier from last year, proved to be the best in the area at 182 pounds. Montford came in as the number one seed and ripped through competition to become the 182-pound champion.
Sophomore Javon McNeal, the youngest of our area champions, entered the tournament as the number two seed. McNeal pinned his way to the finals before facing the undefeated number one seed from Washington County.
McNeal avenged an earlier loss to the Washington County grappler, pinning him late in the third period to win the 220-pound title.
Senior Christian Tyukodi, a four-year starter for Dodge County, entered the tournament as the number two seed and pinned his way to the finals.
In the finals, he faced a familiar foe from Spencer. Tyukodi came up short, finishing as the runner-up at 106 pounds and earning his first trip to the sectional tournament next weekend.
Joah Gay, Dodge County’s only freshman to qualify for sectionals, opened his freshman campaign as the number four seed.
Gay advanced to the semifinals before losing to a previous year state placer.
Gay fought his way back through consolation bracket to the third and fourth place match.
Gay recorded a first period pin against his East Laurens opponent to take third place at 170 pounds and earn a trip to the sectional tournament.
Freshman Judd Bellflower gained some valuable experience in his area tournament debut, as he wrestled himself into the fifth and sixth place match at 120 pounds.
Though he fought hard, Bellflower eventually lost to a tough wrestler from Northeast and finished sixth.
Also scoring valuable team points were Lance Bayles and AJ Melvin. The Indians finished third as a team and carry six to the sectional tournament next weekend at Toombs High School.

Squaws and Indians in second place heading into final week; region tournament next week
By Chad W. Smith
The Dodge County High School (DCHS) basketball teams had three games on the schedule last week. Dodge traveled to Washington County on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in a Region 3AA game and then returned home for two non-region rivalry games against Telfair County on Friday, January 26 and Hawkinsville on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
The Squaws moved to 17-4 and 6-3 in Region 3AA with two wins and one loss. Dodge knocked off previously unbeaten (in the region) and third ranked Washington County, 62-58, lost to 3rd ranked (A) Telfair County, 52-58 and defeated Hawkinsville, 54-31.
The Squaws, as of today, are second in Region 3AA with a 6-3 record, with three region games left this final week of the regular season. The Region 3AA Tournament is next week, February 5-6 & 9-10. If the Squaws remain number two or move to number one in the region then they would receive a bye and automatic bid to the state playoffs and would play in the Region 3AA semifinals and finals on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the number one girl’s team which is Washington County at this point. If the Squaws win their last three region games and Washington County should lose one or two more, then the Squaws could take over number one and host the tournament. If the Indians finish in third, fourth or fifth place they will play in the second round of region on Tuesday, February 6 at the 3rd place girls team’s gym, time and opponent to be determined. The semifinals and finals of the Region tournament will be held at the number one girls’ team gym (Washington County at this point) on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10. Karl Rove: Overrated!
President Trump (I like the sound of that!) once again angered the leftstream media (good for him) with his alleged s---hole reference to countries such as Haiti.
“No leftist reporters want Americans knowing about the reality of life in the Third World that these immigrants will bring with them.”
Paul Kersey on VDare.com 1-20-18
Freddie Gray, career Baltimore criminal, died in a police van and his family collected $6.4 million in a 2015 wrongful death suit. I believe wrongful death suits are tax-free.
Establishment whiner George Will, who says he’s no longer a Republican, claims Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn’t liked by colleagues and is not a “team player,” whatever that means. No wonder RINO Senator John McCain calls Senator Cruz a “wacko bird.” That’s a positive endorsement to me. Lead on, Senator Cruz.
“You know President Trump is on to something effective when the media are constantly telling him to stop it, and nothing has amplified this more than his use of twitter. Ever since the campaign, the punditry and the political class has insisted that someone needs to take his phone away from him or else there will be disaster.”
Judi McLeod on CanadaFreePress.com 1-1-18
Demoleftists all hate term limits. Crazy Joe Biden, 45 years in D.C. is now vice-plagiarist and many other lefty losers are still there for life: Socialist Bernie, San Fran Nan, Chucky Schumer, Pocahantas will hound us for years to come.
“Keep Rove off the campaign trail,” says Donald Trump. Where did they find Rove, anyway? This shows you again that Donald Trump has surprisingly good political instincts.

Holton runs, wrecks, and arrested, again
An Eastman man is in custody at the Dodge County Law Enforcement Center after a car chase and crash involving area law enforcement agencies on January 25, 2018.
Frederick Herman Holton, age 38, was arrested after he made a second attempt to flee from law enforcement officers. The first attempt was on January 19, 2018 as reported in last week’s edition of The Dodge County News. Holton had tried to evade an area law enforcement agency who had attempted to serve a parole warrant on him.
During that event, Holton led law officers from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the Eastman Police Department and the Oconee Drug Task Force on an almost five mile chase beginning around Golf Course Road north of Eastman. Holton ended up crashing his vehicle on Free Gift Church Road.
Law enforcement officials got Holton out of the car, and he was taken to Dodge County Hospital and was later transferred to a hospital in Macon. It was at the Macon hospital that Holton, according to Col. Mike Patterson of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, walked out of the hospital around 4:00 a.m. Holton was considered at large until the chase on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
It was at 7:12 a.m. Thursday that a second car chase that involved Holton and area law enforcement agencies occurred. This one also resulted in a crash on Isham Springs Road in Rhine, just north of Georgia Highway 87.
According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Walt Turner, in an effort to get Holton to stop, attempted to maneuver around the right side of the 2017 Chevrolet Impala Sedan that Holton was driving. Holton’s Impala’s right side struck the front left of Turner’s vehicle.
After the impact, Holton continued driving. He was arrested later. Both he and a 28-year-old female passenger had no apparent injuries and were not transported for medical treatment. No injuries were reported for Turner either.
“He is being held on a variety of charges from several law enforcement agencies,”Patterson explained.
Charges against Holton included obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers, reckless driving, receipt, possession or transfer of firearm by a convicted felon or felony first offender, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, aggravated assault, attempt or conspiracy to violate Georgia Controlled Substance Act-felony, failure to maintain lane, speeding in excess of maximum limits (state speed and zone limits), failure to obey stop sign, failure to yield right of way to school bus, criminal interference with government property, four counts of cruelty to children - criminal negligence/causes excessive physical/mental pain-2nd degree and simple battery.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrested from January 22, 2018 through January 30, 2018.
Allison N. Boone, age 27, of Eastman, was arrested for probation violation.
Otis Leon Carr, age 30, of Eastman, was arrested for possession of marijuana, less than one ounce and parole violation.
Kiley Nicole Cooper, age 38, of Eastman, was arrested for probation violation.
Jorge Garcia, age 33, of Eastman, was arrested for criminal trespass.
Tierra George, age 22, of Cadwell, was arrested for theft by shoplifting.
