Fiorina sounds great lately
Carly Fiorina sounds great lately, but don’t forget – she’s being promoted by the media left and the Republican establishment in an attempt to derail the Trump express. Both would love to knock Donald Trump out of the race and they figured he would be gone by now. Carly is an outsider only because she lost her U.S. Senate run in California and she didn’t even come close to winning. She has some annoying views; she supported California’s DREAM Act, which grants in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. She also believes in man-caused global warming
“Furthermore she recently stated that border walls and fences are not effective at protecting U.S. national sovereignty.”

Remember the phony indictment of Texas Governor Rick Perry a little over a year back? Ann Coulter calls it “Phony indictment of Rick Perry by liberal idiots.” The case had no substance and went nowhere and was forgotten by the medialeft smear artists.

B.H. Obama has directed $10 million in emergency Pentagon spending to help France fight terrorists – in northwest Africa, reports CNSNews.com. The U.S. can’t spend it fast enough – we’re loaded with money, apparently.

Letter to the editor
Dear editor,
The Eastman City Council approved in a 3 to 2 vote that saw councilpersons, Raymond Mullis, Bobby Slye, and Milton Johnson vote in favor of supporting a roundabout at the intersection of Legion Drive and Griffin Avenue. This initial step advances this initiative from the generalized conversation that has gone on for close to a decade on what might be able to be done to improve the safety of this intersection. While this vote is a decisive action supporting a roundabout project at this location, it is by no means the final decision point on the proposed roundabout.
I feel that we have given ample time to councilman Buddy Pittman, our city manager, and our resources across the state in producing state support for a red light. Councilman Pittman, most of all, has gone to great lengths over the last nine months to give the City of Eastman a second viable project in a red light. However, I feel that councilman Pittman suffers from the same dedication of the great NBA star Michael Jordan who felt, “I’ve never lost a game, I just ran out of time.” All of these individuals have failed to inspire anyone to step forward to provide the City of Eastman with any support that could be acted on for a red light at this location.
The city council majority vote in support of a roundabout project has now given the city staff, city attorney, and city engineer direction on what processes and procedures they can now start on to put together a project package to present to the residents of Eastman, city council, and the Georgia Department of Transportation. Our city staff will now be able to coordinate with GDOT to schedule several public involvement opportunities for public information open houses and public hearing open houses.
While some may want to use the old colloquial statements that the “cart has been put before the horse,” in reality the horse and cart have finally been taken out of the barn and moved a little closer together to get hitched. There is a lengthy project management process with a lot of moving parts that the community will have a full view and voice in before this horse and cart get hitched, yet alone get to moving.
Best regards,
Milton Johnson

Dear editor:
To: Eastman-Dodge County Community:
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In conjunction with this, a member of our community, Rose Clark, a cancer survivor herself, will be hosting an event you will not want to miss.
The ninth annual Cancer Awareness Day will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Faith in Action Baptist Church from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The church is located at 1046 College Street in Eastman.
More than one million people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. Whether you have cancer or are close to someone who does, understanding what to expect can help you cope. Many lives can be saved through early detection.
I would like to personally encourage everyone in the area to take time to stop by the church and learn about early detection, treatment and support efforts for cancer patients and caregivers.
If you have never attended one of these events – please do come – this is for everyone, whether you are affected with the disease or not. There will be lots of activities including a skit; slideshow; educational brochures; a fashion show by Cato’s and dinner will be served.
I applaud Ms. Rose and Faith in Action Baptist Church for continuing their efforts to educate the community about this deadly disease and ask for your support and attendance.
Yours in service,

Dear editor,
First of all, the commercials the NRA have put on TV are right on the dot.
When Obama ran for president the first time I was asked many times what I thought about him and I said if he is elected you would regret it. Obama is the peace that comes before the storm. Thanks to Hillary Clinton, a Russian now controls 20 percent of US uranium. The net-worth of the Clintons is now $150 million, all gained in the 15-years since Bill Clinton left office. How did Bill and Hillary make this money? By inventing something or by manufacturing something, or building something of value? No, they made their money by trading on their connections in government.
Obama learned a few things from the Clintons. Under the Clinton administration, many prominent, conservative organizations were audited by the IRS, such as the Heritage Foundation, NRA, Concerned Women of America, Citizens Against Government Waste, National Review, American Spectator, National Center for Public Policy Research, American Policy Center, American Cause, Citizens for Honest Government, Progress and Freedom Foundation, David Holowitz’s Center, and more. Individuals singled out for audits during this same administration included the women Bill Clinton had affairs with (Jennifer Flowers and Liz Wald Gracen) as well as his sexual assault accusers (Paula Jones, Juanita Broderick and Kathleen Willey), along with fired White House travel office director, Billy Dale and attorney, Kent Masterson Brown. Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly was audited three times under the Clinton presidency. The Washington Times and Wall Street Journal were unable to find a single liberal organization that had been audited by the IRS. The Clinton administration sold out missile technology to China. The Clintons political machine has conducted the real war on women. All the women he had an affair with were slandered like trash. I guess Hillary’s political ambition over ruled her slutty husband.
Obama said we are not a Christian nation. He passed a health care law that is an intrusion on our Christian values. He appointed left wing liberals in the Supreme Court to pass his anti-god laws, and our Christian values. He’s let illegals in the country that are killing Americans. He defies the constitution and the laws that are on the books. He’s spent so much money that our economy is about to collapse and his foreign policy don’t make sense. He hates Israel, the Holy Land. Cops are being killed everywhere and he wants to disarm us. He has divided us and made our military weak. He is anti-American, anti-God and he wants to collapse our economy and start world war 3. If he does this, he can declare martial law and stay in power.
I have never seen nor has there ever been so much corruption and sin since the birth of our nation. When it comes to sin, God is a vengeful God. Keep your faith and his shield will protect you.

Eastman City Council approves roundabout
By Taelor Rye
The intersection by the Dodge County Hospital, the site of many accidents and general driving inconveniences, may become a roundabout in the future.
The Eastman City Council voted at its meeting on Monday, September 28 to contact the department of transportation to get the process started. The vote was the result of a majority rule; city council members Bobby Slye, Raymond Mullis, and Milton Johnson voted in favor of developing the roundabout while city council members
Prince Dawson and Buddy Pittman voted against the motion.
The intersection in question has been in discussion for renovation for the past several years, according to Slye. He estimated that the current council has had discussions about it for the past four years and that the previous council even had another four years of discussion before that.
The roundabout is perhaps a more financially feasible option than a red light or a four-way stop, as the state has offered a grant for $300,000.00 to go toward the construction of the roundabout, which the council estimates would cost a total of $450,000.00 or so in addition to potential additional costs such as having engineering research performed or alleviating gas tanks in the area underground. Pittman cited these factors as the reason for his vote against the motion.
Slye was perhaps the biggest proponent of the roundabout, stating many times throughout the conversation that he sees it as a benefit in that it will prevent many accidents similar to those that have happened in the past.
Additionally, Slye stated that, while some people may be intimidated of the idea of a roundabout, they’re simpler to use than what most people think, and people generally fear what they don’t understand. However, with use, citizens will easily understand how a roundabout functions.
Pittman also rebutted that, while traffic at the roundabout may flow more smoothly, the city would still have the issue of traffic leading up to the roundabout, which has been an issue over the years as well.
When Dawson suggested having public hearings before conducting the council’s vote, Johnson responded that doing so is “shifting it onto the community to make the decision that… [the council] has been elected to make.”
Johnson also said that the public can add their input after the council’s decision and that what’s important at this point is to take the initiative to make motion in one direction or the other.

Lady Warriors will host games this weekend at rec department
By Russ Ragan
The Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Lady Warriors hosted West Laurens in a game that would determine top-seed in the upcoming tournament. The game as expected was a tight one; as Dodge had to come from behind for a 4 to 2 win. The game also took a twirl into the twilight zone, more on that later in the Dodge fifth. Even though Dodge hosted either Swainsboro or Dublin on Tuesday it was expected that the Lady Warriors would win and host the semi-finals and finals this Saturday, September 26, at the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department. The Dodge County Board of Commissioners voted on Monday, September 21 to allow funds from the 2013 Special-Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to supplement a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to go to the Roddy Volunteer Fire Department (VFD).
In order to receive the FEMA grant, the Roddy VFD is required to match at least five percent of the grant. The combined funds will go toward “thirteen firefighter outfits, ten sections of eight-foot attack line and twenty sections of supply line to be placed in service with the fire department,” county manager Bobby Peacock informed the board.
Because the FEMA grant amounts to $38,240.00, the VFD requested $2,013.00 to come from the 2013 SPLOST.
When county commissioner Brian Watkins asked whether the $2,013.00 would fall within the scope of the allotted VFD funds from that SPLOST, Peacock clarified that, even with these funds taken out, the VFD would still have more money allotted from the 2013 SPLOST.
The board voted unanimously to approve the motion.
The board also voted to approve the advertisement for sale of a one-mile tract of land in Rhine at the intersection of Highway 117 and Don Durden Road. [Full Story »]
