Kevin Bierschenk, chief executive officer of Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, was sworn in as chairman of the Georgia Hospital Association’s (GHA) Center for Rural Health Board of Trustees recently. As chairman, he will provide guidance and direction on health policy and legislative issues affecting rural hospitals. Bierschenk has served on the Center for Rural Health Board for the past two years, where he has represented the board and rural hospitals in Washington at the American Hospital Association’s annual meeting. He succeeds J. LaDon Toole, administrator of Grady General Hospital in Cairo.
Bierschenk has served as Dodge County Hospital CEO since August 2007, where he oversees all aspects of the hospital and seven employed physician practices. Since joining the hospital, he has helped decrease operating expenses and increase annual productivity index.
Prior to serving as CEO, Bierschenk served as CEO of Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville, Alabama, where he successfully recruited a new orthopedic surgeon, a new emergency room group and a new radiology company. Before holding this position, he served as chief financial officer and interim CEO of Rabun County Hospital in Clayton. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
