Dear Editor,

I cannot think of anything that’s worth half doing. Failing must not become an option. When it comes to trust have we become a nation of people that can believe half of what we see and none of what we hear.

We all will be remembered for the problem that we solve or the problem that we created. Success is not about you but putting ahead of self possession, job, friends and even relatives. [Full Story »]

Watkins wins commissioner seat

Brian Watkins was the top vote recipient in the run-off election for the District 3 Dodge County Commissioner.

Out of 10 precincts, Watkins received 551 votes and Timmy Burnham received 226 votes.

Watkins will represent District 3 for the unexpired term of the late Edwin Burnham, which will end December 31, 2010.

A Little Common Sense

The rules of the great Iranian nuclear charade are simple: We pretend to punish the Iranians for the nuclear-weapons program that they pretend doesn’t exist.

The Obama administration is about to go to the United Nations Security Council for a fourth round of sanctions. Remember the first three rounds? Models of collective international action, they passed unanimously (with the exception of an abstention by Indonesia in 2008) while Iran spun ever-more centrifuges and enriched ever-more uranium. The Middle Georgia 12U fast pitch softball team traveled to Cordele Saturday April 3, 2010 to compete in the Camsports Southern Bash softball tournament.

The Hurricanes played a total of five games to finish in first place.

Terry Coleman offers congratulations to Eva Pittman and Joyce B. Jones for their recent Georgia Legacy of Older Women Award presented in Atlanta at Mary Mac’s Tea room by the Georgia Commission on Women.

The GLOW award is given in recognition of women passed the age of retired that are still active and involved in community service.

Eva Pittman is a Licensed Practical Nurse. A graduate of Manpower Vocational Technical College, she worked forty years in various departments at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman. Though now retired from the hospital, she has not slowed down.

She is currently the school nurse at Dodge County High School. [Full Story »]

Cyprin Burse recently signed a football scholarship with Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
